What Alien film had the best blu-ray transfer?

You know, I was sure I'd heard that was rubbish and I was looking around trying to find the quote and then I remembered where I heard it. It was during Charles' panel at the Aliens Encounter convention.

Questions were posed to the floor, most of them being asked by me and Ian labeling me a "trouble-maker" due to this and one question I asked. Now I remembered a report that came out around the time of the Anthology set in which Jean-Pierre Jeunet was reported as claiming he had no involvement in the Anthology set. I asked Charles about this and he said that it wasn't true, that Junet had been involved. I'll try and find the link to that report to hopefully back me up. But as I told Charles, "I'll just shut my mouth then".

Alien, easily. I couldn't believe how good it looked on Blu.

Aliens was also bloody good, but not quite as jaw-droppingly spectacular as Alien.

3 and Resurrection were a noticeable step down, but they still looked very nice indeed. I agree with Mr. Weyland about being disappointed they clearly didn't get the same amount of attention, although I am so happy they went back and fixed the dodgy audio for the Assembly Cut of Alien 3 (even if Murphy now calls out for a non-existent Spike and the W-Y scientist's voice changes between scenes )

Overall Alien is undoubtedly the best looking but Aliens is the most improved considering the stock it came from.

The grain was still quite noticeable in it though? From what I recall.

Yeah, but film grain is a beautiful thing. I don't like to see it artifically removed if it's part of the film's visual makeup. The details were intact and then some and the screen has a gritty overcoat. I love it.

It's one of the things Cameron didn't like but couldn't overcome due to the needed sensitivity.

Alien looks the best if a little dark.The grain in Aliens never bothered me as much as the choice of a different aspect ratio does.
