Just an FYI but I asked Titan about this. No more information is available.
I'm really excited about what will be happening to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Aliens. All this portends something good.
This just popped up on Amazon.

So... what, a book talking about the camera angles they used?
Would a detailed book about the making-of in general not be more, you know... interesting to people who aren't cameramen?
QuoteTo celebrate the 30th anniversary of James Cameron's groundbreaking science fiction classic comes the first, official record of the shoot. Through candid, high-quality stills we see the cast and crew at work, in costume, rehearsing, in make-up, and during filming. Some choice pieces of original concept art add greater context to the shoot and showcase the remarkable level of design. Also features insightful quotes from original interviews.
Doesn't sound like it to me. Sounds like a book with lots of set photographs and some interviews.
That makes slightly more sense.
Now i'm looking forward to this. Cant wait to see pics of the Marines behind the scenes and Pics of Hadley's Hope
Wonder if this was what Henn had been talking about. If so, one of my predictions were half-correct!
Now this is right up my alley. Can't wait for this.

I'm not so sure. Whilst I love this - I still think/hope Henn was talking about something more impressive.
Anyone planning to get this?

QuoteA new hardback photography book documenting the making of Aliens, the 1986 smash hit movie directed by James Cameron. Aliens: The Set Photography reveals a unique new perspective on the making of James Cameron's film as the focus shifts behind the cameras to capture the director, cast and crew as they bring the second action-packed installment of the Alien saga to the big screen. Released to coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the movie, Aliens: The Set Photography features brand-new insights and memories from Carrie Henn (Newt) and Jenette Goldstein (Private Vasquez). With a wealth of never-before-seen pictures including casting publicity shots, behind-the-scenes 'between-take' breaks, weapons, vehicles and much more, Aliens: The Set Photography acts as a sumptuous visual celebration of this sci-fi classic.
Pretty sure I already have this pre-ordered. I'm looking forward to seeing what it's in there! I just wish books like this would come with some digital counterpart where we have access to the pictures on the PC.
Im VERY looking forward to this and the curiosity of whats inside is killing me. I really wish it would be released sooner than the end of july >:(
I'm hoping we'll see plenty of new photos in this one.
Amazon has shifted the release date to August 9th.
Good to know. I wonder why is that. Maybe they decided to include something else along the way or just ran back on progress?
Will the site be reviewing this book?
Maybe. I've got it pre-ordered so I'll no doubt chat about it on here. If I do a longer review on the front page...I don't know yet.
This is available for early purchase at SDCC. Carrie Henn is going to be signing too.

QuoteAliens fans attending Comic Con should head to Titan at booth #5537 to pick up their early release copies of Aliens: The Set Photography, and Carrie Henn "Newt" will be signing copies at midday on Friday!
My review copy arrived yesterday. Only had a flick through it but it sure looks purdy.

Looking forward to your review!
I do wish these books would come with digital copies of the pictures. There's a lot that's readily available, there's others that are on the blu-ray and a giant pain in the arse to get off (trust me) and some I've not seen elsewhere before. It'd be nice to be able to have these cleanly on the PC.

Got my copy today. Sadly, it's going back to Amazon. There's nothing really new in there that I haven't seen before. A few pictures here and there that are new but I can't really justify nearly £20 for it.
That's always going to be a difficulty with new books like this. How many times can you show off the same thing and how can you make it appeal.
I read a bit last night. I really enjoyed Carrie Henn's foreword on this. Very personal and really enjoyed it. Like smuts says, there's a lot of what we've seen in here before but I'm enjoying the presentation and I don't think Aliens specifically has had this kind of book.
Yeah, I was holding off on this after getting sort of burned with Alien: The Archive, which actually contained very little I didn't already know.
I'm sure it's probably a great book for the layman, though.
And finished! In short, those looking for some new info are going to be disappointed. Those of you who haven't gone through the Quadrilogy/Anthology galleries will likely find pictures you've not seen before and those who have will find one or two new ones. It's a very well presented book. Gorgeous spreads, very nice paper stock. I can't think of any Aliens focused books like this either so that's a plus.
I'll do a proper review shortly. Busy weekend coming up so it might be next week.

Review is up.
Some nice new images but an easy pass.
I saw this in my local bookstore:

Unfortunately it was sealed in plastic so I couldn't look inside. I already own the Alien Archives book so I'm wondering - Is this also worth a purchase? Is there any exclusive content that I might not have already?
