The Ultimate Collection Featuring All Four ALIEN Films Hatches On

Blu-ray On October 25 With Never-Before-Seen Bonus Material And The Debut Of The Exclusive and Groundbreaking Interactive Experience, MU-TH-UR Mode

LONDON (July 15, 2010) – Sometimes, the scariest things come from within. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment presents one of the most successful and terrifying film franchises of all time when the ALIEN ANTHOLOGY debuts on Blu-ray for the first time ever on October 25.

All four ALIEN films have been reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience. The release also marks the debut of MU-TH-UR Mode, a fully interactive companion that takes the extensive materials in the ALIEN ANTHOLOGY and puts them in the user's hand – connecting fans to special features on all six discs and instantly providing an index of all available ALIEN content, including over 60 hours of special features and over 12,000 images. ALIEN ANTHOLOGY will also be available in a Limited Edition Collector's Set featuring 'The Guardian' – an exclusive illuminated egg statue sculpted by Sideshow Collectibles®.

The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY is a truly unique home entertainment experience.  For the first time ever, the studio has united the material from every home video release of the ALIEN saga including the 1991/1992 laserdisc releases, the 1999 "Legacy" release and 2003's groundbreaking ALIEN QUADRILOGY release into one complete Blu-ray collection.  The set also includes two versions of each film and over four hours of previously unreleased exclusive material such as original screen tests of Sigourney Weaver prior to filming the original ALIEN, unseen deleted scenes, thousands of still photographs from the Fox archives, the previously unseen original cut of "Wreckage and Rage: The Making of ALIEN3," and much, much more.

The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY is just one aspect of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's
yearlong campaign to honor the studio's 75th birthday.  This year the division will debut several select fan-favorites on Blu-ray for the first time ever including The Rocky Horror Picture Show, William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge! and The Sound of Music.

I am happy, but I dont know why they didn't put the original ALIEN cut, which is 3 hours. Ridley cut scenes from the Theatrical Version and put in new scenes to the Director's cut, but the duration of the two movies are the same. Why didn't he just add new scenes (or at least the extended scenes, for example : death of Brett, Alien Transmission, the chestburster scene) and didn't cut out like in the other alien movies director's cut. By the way I read somewhere that James Cameron's Avatar original cut is 360 min  ;D

Box looks great. Really great sculpt. But the art in the fold-outs don't look great.
Sheer amount of extras though!!!! Will never get through them all, but the geek in me likes to know they're there  :D

I wish I was rich enough to get both anything that can play Blu-Rays (I was wishing this simply to see the special features on the Trick 'r Treat Blu-Ray) and this, simply to see the Burke deleted scene (which should have been with the Quadrilogy anyway!)

I would hope that FOX would make a DVD version of the NEW EXTRAS if they amount enough for hat...IT is disrespectful to the original ALIEN QUADRILOGY such as myself to having to buy it YET AGAIN in BR just for an hour or two of new extras... Hope FOX has thought about that...

Naaaah!  ::)

...Have you ever WATCHED a film on blu-ray?

Post by: Yutaniditch on Jul 17, 2010, 04:55:53 PM
Nope... I am pretty comfy with my Alien Quadrilogy on DVD...

I just want the NEW EXTRAS, not have the same movies twice... Waste of money, if you ask me...

I thought you were gonna say 'There are FOUR hours not two'... ;D  ;)

For me, the BR is only interesting if you have an HD TV... And even then, the difference to a good quality DVD is marginal for the sheer GB space it takes...

For $140,00, it isn't worth it...hence why I hoped there to be a DVD version of the New Extras... BUt I don't think FOX cares that much about Alien Quadrilogy owners...

::)

Well, yeah, if you don't have an HDTV, I guess this isn't the set for you. No worries, I'm sure someone'll put those new extras up somewhere on the internet for you dvd guys...   ;)

The art inside the packaging is atrocious and looks like the imagery for the original Aliens Vs. Predator game for the PC from way back when. I wish they would keep it classy instead of cheesing it up with bad artwork and aliens flying all over the place.

the difference between a good BR disc and a good DVD is HUGE... i can only recommend comparing the dark knight DVD and BR. the opening sequence should answer all your questions regarding the (potential) picture quality of blu rays...

Blu-Ray or not, there is no need to pay $139.99 for these discs if most of the stuff is already in the Quadrilogy box set (and you own it).  And keep in mind, all of the new special features will make their way to the internet sooner or later anyway.

Not worth it.

on an extras basis there really isnt much more. especially if u allready have all the dvds.

are there any new commentaires? also are they going to unedit the original ones as most of them especially with the actors where like a highlight reel.

I doubt it. If they were unedited commentaries, they'd have said so.

Still, the ALIEN films on blu-ray are enough for me!  ;D
