Title: See Alien: Covenant's Engineer Architecture in New Production Still
Post by: BonesawT101 on Dec 21, 2016, 02:03:44 PM
https://mobile.twitter.com/AlienAnthology/status/811572411006976000/photo/1 New official pic from the Anthology twitter page. The corridor Looks a lot more like the Derelict from the original film than the Juggernaut from Prometheus in my opinion.

Oh, that looks decidedly more bio-mechanical than anything we saw in Prometheus...

It's a beautiful shot. And it absolutely reminds of that first person pov shot from Alien when Dallas, Lambert and Kane first enter the Derelict.

That looks far more biomechanical than anything in Prometheus, looks just like the original derelict's interior!

Wow. I think the most appropriate thing to say is it looks very Alien and the biggest compliment I can pay is it looks Alien.

What the hell do the digits mean though, I hear everyone ask!

Man, original derelict or something else, just seeing those beautiful biomechanical bones again, that's more like it! I suppose when Haag added in response to there being no biomechanical aesthetic, "except for the obvious parts", this was one of the parts, not just the big chap.

I think that is some codes for a viral in the site of Weyland Corporation to see what happened in the Prometheus mission, codes to access the files.

One thing that doesn't make sense, with regard to this theory, is that the second picture (the one with the cryotubes) was taken on a day following what appears to be the security team on the surface of the planet (which I am assuming takes place much later in the film). If these are displaying scenes from the film in a chronological fashion, then the team landing on the planet... shouldn't that come later on in the film?

True, true. I'd noticed that yesterday when me and RidgeTop were talking about it and have completely forgot about it. We could reconcile that by saying it's actually at the end of the film but I'd expect everything to look a bit worse for wear by that point.

This has been the first picture I've been genuinely wowed by. The attention to detail in recreating Giger's famous architecture is impressive. It's what I was hoping to see in 'Prometheus'.

This gives me some hope that Scott paid attention to at least the criticism of his chucking out the 'bio' part of the biomechanical aesthetics.

There seems to be a space for a branching secondary tunnel or chamber, over to the right.

All the anticipation over a trailer, it was stressful enough we had to wait about 5 years after Prometheus to see the next chapter, I'm just wondering how long we'll have to wait for the next 2 movies completing the back story Ridley Scott haqs planned, assuming of course they actually get made.

Yeah, this is the best picture of the lot so far! Could do with some glistening, slime-like effect on the walls like in Alien. But perhaps we'll see that effect in the film itself.

I'm sure they'll get made somehow. Ridley might step down to a producer's position and let someone else direct if he felt he couldn't do it.

Scott is a perfectionist no doubt about it, and these pictures of the props are beautiful, but they are so clean, so perfect.
The same feeling i did have in Prometheus. I do remember the frontwindow in Prometheus spaceship which was dusty around its corner, but that was all.
I do really miss the used, dirty look of Alien, where the props seems so plausible because of that used, unclean look.

is this the same Juggernaut from Prometheus? Answer: probably yes , but is it the second one?

how do we differ the 1st from the 2nd?
Or is it a third?

For years I've been thinking that the Engineers and the Space Jockeys were two different species, but it is quite clear now that they are the same thing :P amazing picture btw 8)

Yes that's now set in stone. I wonder how much this movie will reveal about the engineer civilization.

lol Not so much according to recent leaks (http://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/index.php?topic=55868.0). But I still have faith that the movie will give us some answers  ;D

This looks MUCH more like the organic-stylel derelict than the more mechanical redesign of the interiors in Prometheus. Great news!

someone walking through it would make a much better movie poster than the other one.

I agree. While the official poster is nice, this would have been better.

What would the tagline be?

Maybe, "Enter"? Or, "Beware"? "Darkness lies within Paradise"?

I bet you were pretty happy to see those beautiful mechanical bones eh Corporal? To be honest I was not expecting to see this aesthetic again but more of that streamlined, Prometheus style. I literally jumped from the couch lol

It´s kind of strange that they go with that structure design, as it was a compromise during the originals production. Giger wanted to build a genuine hallway he designed on paper before. Fox said no for cost reasons, so they refurbished the bone wall structure of the egg chamber and glued them on the outer shell of the derelict (the convex shape in the picture above the bone wall). As to be read in the Giger´s Alien book.

Well, after all everybody remembers it like that from the movie. Just hope they don´t play that save card, to show us what we are used too and make it fan candy on the cost of a coherent script and sense in universe.

Well Prometheus skipped the fan candy and avoided showing what we are used too and it  still lacked a coherent script and sense of universe.

At least this time, worst case, we'll get some fan candy.
