Lawrence reference is cool, but original Frankenstein novel is great too...
Not just a monster story but great philosophical work. Alien movies have a great potential
just because they can mix all this horror-sf-mystery stories into one huge epic...

Yeah, Frankenstein is a very deep, erudite work. It is a Gothic horror story, too, told in a framed narrative, etc, etc. But it is a work of much thought, ruminating on the nature of man.

The accent sounds a little too fake, but the new one is a lot more plausible as an AI portrayal. I'm glad cues were taken from the Bishop portrayal.

I find the "evolution" of the synthetics to be pretty interesting. David's an independent thinker that doesn't appear to have any issue with taking a life (or lives). The jury is out on Walter but he appears more under foot. Ash of course was a company man with some David like characteristics while Bishop was a solid citizen.

That's some pretty high level of product placement. Cool little short, but the concept of "take home your android" is pretty foreign to the franchise. I always figured they were only privately tasked for the company and military.

So, apparently synthetics have two names now. The Davids came from a time when it was just one name designation followed by their generation number. Here, we have 'Meer Walter'.
The manufacturing process seems a little over-simplistic. Just filling up a bag with fluid. There also appears to be nothing inside the body, even though Ash and Bishop still apparently required lots of tubes and electronic components in there.

I really enjoyed this. I like its consistency with alien. What I mean is, when Ripley burns Ash in Alien, the synthetic skin melts off and we are shown an under case which gives the face it's shape. This Viral shows that that design seems to be consistent.
I wonder if it was a conscious choice by Scott and the designers to do this. Or am I just overthinking it, I wonder ?

Overall I prefer the (with retrospect, ludicrously sinister) foreshadowing of the David 8 advert, that was done in the style of some sort of IT commercial, like Apple. Sort of subverted the nauseating smugness of those ads.
This was more like a contemporary BMW ad, right down to the type of landscape used and the washed out colour scheme. The way they use these aesthetics for the creation of sentient life is pretty chilling.
Also like how Walter is handed the same sort of bottle you attach to the side of a hamster cage.
As well as the resemblance of the endoskeleton to 'melted Ash', at a couple of points it recalls the dummy figure seen in the red band trailer.

I think this is the equivalent of a seventies Ridley Scott advert for British Airways or suchlike. It's not the actual process, rather a stylised version for marketing purposes in universe. It's remarkably close in tone to the old Ridley ads, so his son's done a grand job there!

Saw that too. They went out of their way to highlight that, although it looks more like two separate circles, which you could read into also. 'This is David, with the '8' broken, a few synapses keeping him from attaining full awareness'

Yeah, notice how he blinks just after 1:45?
Fassbender by far outshines the rest of the cast IMO.
The masks on the techs is a bit strange. Good video though!
It's the same room which appears in the trailer but mountain landscape looks a bit different.

I don't quite get what they're getting at either. Maybe the idea is that by this point we've cured most disease etc by having perfected bio genetics, 'Gattaca' and designer babies for the rich have happened, and we have retained 20th century property law which is of course written by and for the likes of Weyland-Yutani.
Maybe 'abnormalities' refers to genetic predisposition to violence, etc. They don't want any potentially unstable consciousness imprinted on Walter models.
I really liked this Walter infomercial. It's as creepy as it is intriguing. Here's hoping the David vs. Walter scenes in the actual movie crush it.

I really do hate AMD being referenced in this. The moment that company ceases to exist or gets a change of brand name after merging with another, it's permanently screwed up.
Hopefully it won't be in the film itself, so it could end up like some of that ridiculous info they put out on the weyland website before Prometheus.

Maybe the recordings from the helmets of the Prometheus crew were sent to high CEO´s of the company. They know about the engineers, Peter Weyland´s fate and just about everything that happened in LV-223, and now they are up to finish –or perhaps, amplify– what their contemporaries did.

Of course, when you start playing with an in-world concept in the Alien universe, you have to accept that you're operating in a dystopia. It's a franchise that means a lot to people in part because it's bleak, things aren't what they seem, and people (artificial or otherwise) tend to have a hidden agenda.
"A lot of times, science fiction makes 100 years from now unrecognizable. You don't even recognize the world that you're living in anymore." says Zachary Eller, 20th Century Fox's senior vice president of marketing partnerships. "What's so cool about the Alien universe is that it's the future, yes, but it's still very much our world. Well Filmed. The simplicity of the construction felt a bit odd. Instant android, just add....some liquid to a frame? The skin tissue I could see, but hair growth is a bit hard to buy. I take it that was David giving the "learn from me" speech after the trailer was over? Feels too ominous to be Walter. Feels like something David is saying to Shaw or a member of the Covenant, and it's been cut and reworked to seem like Walter.

I interpret, this video is an in-universe commercial. Probably beautified and stylised, beyond the probably quite inhuman, industrialised manufacturing process. Like a fancy car commercial, as I saw mentioned earlier.

I somehow doubt that. But I hope we get the scenes that may or may not have been cut from different versions and I wonder how long it will take before we get to see everything from the entire Prequel series. There are scenes we have yet to see from Prometheus and may be stuff with Shaw cut from this film.
You know what I would like? The early drafts of this script as it went through various changes. We know there we drafts when it was still PROMETHEUS 2... They were writing it for a while. Who knows how much of that stuff was given to the author of the Prequel book.

i could think of nobody worse to part in the alien universe than wahlberg.
i liked him in his rock pairing with the 80's style scam movie, but that's about it to be fair.
and a rock android colonial marine sounds fantasticly funny but really not wanted.
i think bradley cooper could actually portray a real sinister android. or a alien:resurection style bad guy.
i would prefer ridley would stay away from 'popular' actors though. i prefer less known, moldable actors instead
of big names that want to show their 'fantasticism' in a xeno universe.
Boyd Holbrook or Steven Merchant would deliver fitting roles i would think.

Right now Prometheus had me at a fever pitch. I was checking this site all the time. This time around I have so little interest in the film, the media surrounding, it or any of the ads. I'll see it, it will be a movie. I will go home and wonder why I didn't just wait for netflix.
