This and a similar shot in the same scene are the only times the Covvie Alien really does anything for me at all.

See, not just me!

Yes this is lovely. It actually looks like an alien astronaut lurking about. More mysterious and otherworldly than portraying the alien as a viscous fast bloodthirsty beast.

It looks fantastic but, even Ridley in the first film wanted it to move lightening fast, and honestly the problem is the way that its shot, not the idea an alien can speedily eviscerate or kidnap you, while also being intelligent. Perfect organisms don't always walk.

We humans walk. Point is - the more Alien resembles human being in its movements - the creepier it is

I don’t think the original idea a director has is always the best idea. Spielberg originally also wanted the shark to be more visible but technical limitations made it difficult and expensive. Probably the same for a man in a suit monster movie like alien. In my opinion the most memorable monster movies are those whit technical limitations because the director and entire crew has to be creative to make the film look good.
Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg didn’t realize it at the time but their original ideas would have turned their films into b movies, luckily they weren’t able tp push through their original ideas…

I don’t know it was ever posted here but in my opinion the single best shot of the alien is in the original film where he walks slowly towards Lambert. The alien didn’t look like a beast , it looked otherworldly and mysterious in that shot

I can't see Alien. All I can see is Parker furiously jerking off
