Well, we do know that Holloway survives at least the first trip to the temple (see his infectioned eye while looking in the mirror), and that this nice BBQ party happens on their first time back (no storm, they're trying to stabilize the infected Fifield on the ground), so we can assume that he survives the flamethrower blast mostly intact.
Remember, there is also the shot of the red shirt being imposed upon by the rising burnt-to-shit character who is more than likely Fifield (seeing as he goes on a killing spree right after). I'd imagine (doing a lot of that here, huh?) that Vicky full-on turns the flamethrower on Fifield's ass right after warding off Holloway.

I always wondered if maybe the storm was in the first trip out - say, Shaw hauls ass to tote the Engineer head back in (she's carrying something in the back of the transport) and gets knocked about by the winds in the process. We also know there's at least one trip around somewhere where most of the landing party, including a still-live Milburn, are not wearing the skullcap headgear beneath their helmets and then in fact remove the helmets entirely.
I'm not at all convinced that the infection does not metastasize in Holloway relatively unnoticed and only truly manifest on the second trip out, leading to the flamethrower confrontation.

I really like not knowing the order of all this shit, there's something of a noir mystery going around on these boards that us detectives are trying to piece together (including me, against my better judgement :laugh:). I've been trying to track continuity by the shape her hair is in and her clothing (since it's more telling than anybody else's so far), and by the time she's in the blue jumpsuit and her hair is loosened up, we know something stressful has gone down.
Something interesting to note is that she is wearing the grey suit and with her hair tightly knit in the scene where she says that she "sincerely hopes [they] make it", which is paired with the race against the storm, and she is also shown wearing the suit and the same hairstyle in the briefing scenes; you can very well be right about this being the first trip out. She also tells them that if they're "really going down there, [they're] going to die", leading one to believe that the a previous trip has shown them the risks.
I think the shot of her warning someone is a trick cut. I don't think she's talking to Shaw.

It just makes sense to me. That shot is used by the trailer editors to have her be the spooky doomsayer warning everyone away from the haunted house, but in terms of who Vickers is, why would she do that? This is her operation. If she wanted them all not to go, she'd order them not to. Or if it was late in the film, she'd be agitated with them. Instead, she is calmly warning someone not to do it in a reasonably intimate tone.

We know there's quite a few go out to investigate, 2 buggies and 1 transport so that's 10 people at least if you dont include drivers. Maybe the party splits up or something, with David, Shaw, Holloway and 2 others go one way while the rest go another and it's this party that comes under attack. Of course Holloway gets infected too at some point, but what happens to him seems to be more mysterious no one (including himself) realises it until much later. The reason I say this is because I just can't see Scott doing the same thing twice (ie 2 expeditions). The only exception to the rule perhaps being David, who we know visits the pilots chair again but it's still a mystery why he does this.

I'm getting better at this spoilers thing, lol. I decided to mute the clip and just look out for new footage. I didn't want to hear something potentially spoilerish. Although I still risked seeing Vickers in a situation which is spoilerish.
Well, I can't wait to get this in HD.

I agree with some of these previous comments (sorry will work out how to quote very soon).
The great mystery for me, the biggest headscratcher is still this movie's chain of events as presented to us by the trailers/featurette/ spots.
It has overtaken my curiosity and become more baffling to me even than whom the space jockeys/engineers are. The splicing and cutting of character dialogue and matching it with unrelated images (e.g. Vickers warnings) has been a real red herring in this marketing campaign.
Even the terrifying Fifield/Milburn audio was disjointed, non-linear and doesn't appear to fit in with the spot of Milburn and his mouth to mouth with the goo snake. Even Janek's cap wishes to confuse us in yesterday's clip ;)

Hopefully that is a sign that the 'goo snake' is not the mutator but a good old fashioned parasitic alien. We really have no idea what happens to Fifield to make him go Busey on the crew.
I think the biggest mystery is the urns and how they fit into all this. As I mentioned in another thread, there are probably lots of these Hammerpede things, but the idea seems to be one of them goes from person to person turning the crew against one another, while the infection Holloway picks up comes from what's already been described as tiny worms living in the black ooze, that get into his suite unnoticed.
Love the dialogue and delivery.....it felt like an ALIEN film, and the talking felt absolutely natural....

While Vickers might be a coldhearted bitch, she seems to be the only one inhabiting a clear and rational mind when things start to go really bad, echoing Ripley in Alien, especially with her not allowing infected crewmembers to just wander back into the ship.
I'm with Vickers (no pun intended) - Vickers, David and Shaw are going to be fan favorites, potentially accompanied by Fifield and Janek from what I've seen... :)

Looking at this now - it looks like there is only one storm.
The buggy beats out the storm and then as Shaw gets off, she is blown away when it finally reaches the ship.
Looks like the temple self-destructs - which would be a good explanation for that huge explosion we saw recently in the latest TV spot. She gets blown away and as Vickers said before - she is closing the bay doors in 15 minutes. I am guessing she gets blown away, the ship takes off, and Shaw is stranded. Over the intercom she tries to persuade Janek to ram the alien ship while Vickers commands him to go home. Janek makes the right call and goes to ram the ship while Vickers rushes to the escape pod. The escape pod lands near where Shaw is and they both try to escape the falling debris together.
As for the struggling Fifield - here are some leaked photos from awhile back. Notice that he is outside the ship w/o a helmet. Other ppl are at the bay with helmets and flame throwers.

It appears to me that Vickers is suiting up and getting the flamethrower before the team return. So, she was ready to roast them before she could see for herself with her own eyes, what shape they were in. This scene has to play out in conjunction with Fifield going beserk, probably after witnessing Vickers 'solution' to their predicament - it would just be weird to have two different scenes depicting the same kind of fight in the hanger area.

Does anyone else now not buy the whole - she wanted the mission to fail so that she could take over her father's company? Wouldn't she be responsible for the failure then? I mean - you don't make someone CEO after posting deep in the red.
That and Charlize always said that her character was always the one with the biggest agenda. How is taking over the family biz bigger than trying to meet our creators? Either that chick was on her phone half the time - in which case what she says is largely worthless, or she didn't see anything (however you want to explain that) in which case everything she said is worthless.

The more I see of Vickers the more I like her. I didn't much care for the character when we first started getting info on her. I'm not a fan of bitchy female lead characters, if often comes across as the writer's trying to overcompensate and make them sound "tough." Ripley was this kind of thing done right. She never seemed bitchy to me. She seemed like a person just trying to do her job to the best of her ability.

We've seen Holloway being supported by Shaw and Ford when walking up the ramp before throwing his head back in pain... After giving it some thought, I'd assume he's the one lying on the ground as well. It makes no sense that he would collapse from pain and next - walk up the ramp towards Vickers like that...

True,but seeing the screens it has to be like this or close to this.
Fifield being a infected one doesnt rule out there will be more infected,
the guy holding Shaw down must understand that there is something wrong with Holoway in a bad way,
and Vickers does too,its possible that Fifield is killed earlier and therefor the crew knows what bad infections they are dealing with.
Or Fifield comes in later and again an action scene in the cargo bay :P
Ps. the rape im not sure if it will happen.
It sort of suggests (being very careful here), that the teams first expedition into the temple goes somewhat undramatic - they all come back with stories to tell - and Holloway with an infection that he presumably first notices when looking in that mirror. Or he gets the infection somehow onboard the Prometheus - the exploding head, David messing about with one of the urns...
When everything goes to hell, it could be a different/the next expedition - Milburn getting some frenchkissing, Fifield getting some love too. Hence they return in bad shape and cue the scene with Vickers setting some of them ablaze, cue Fifield going beserk in the bay area...
It sort of makes sense in context with the scene with David, Shaw and others entering the Juggernaut control room - remember Davids fresh remark. This could be part of the first succesful expedition - them entering the ship without actually realizing it's a ship but thinking it's part of the temple. We've seen that the two are connected by an underground tunnel in the HD shots of the temple scan. It makes sense, because the team are so intrigued but relaxed in that scene, explorerers - no sensation of danger at all. Shaw doesn't look like a person who just witnessed her boyfriend being toased, not to mention all the other shit that goes down...

Maybe Someone contacts Prometheus when shit goes wrong and inform the rest of what happend with Holloway or they find out about something through cameras and stuff inside the Prometheus.
Or the away team falls apart and Holloway and Fifield dont make it back and after the storm they come back,
therefor Shaw on the ground being so happy that her lover has returned.

I really have to stop watching all these videos. But seeing Vickers as such a badass burning some poor fella to protect her ship really excites me for her character, and what'll she be like.
It does look like Fifield holding Shaw down, and it's hard to see but I'm not sure his head is shaped quite right.
That being said, we know the rest of the landing party is in that scene. I don't think they'd stand around letting Fifield bum rush Shaw.
Could also be Janek. Why he's messing around there is anyone's guess, but we know that at some point he enters the pyramid/derelict/juggernaut.

I think there is a second trip to the pyramid/ship, because Ford is still alive when they bring Holloway back to the Prometheus, she die in the pyramid, maybe they go back to Fifield and Milburn, and they meet the Enginier, probably on the first trip they just found the snake look like alien, what was done whit Fifield and Milburn.
That is a great shot of Holloway there.

It begs the question what is a difference between individual mutations. From the dark veins appearing inside him, he has the same infections as the Engineer shown in the full trailer. My opinion is that this is evidence against the Holloway turning into SJ theory since the Jockeys were not immune to this infection.
There may be be four trips to pyramid/ship.

3. Third exploration (possibly to ship with Ford's demise and the loss of David)

So that was apparently on the first trip out, then everythings cool and they go bone, then he goes back out when more people get jacked up/infected, and Vickers gets all 'he's a creeper ass alien mutant spy, and he's gonna screw our entire ship' and lights him up?

I'm fairly sure I deduced that it was Milburn from the International Launch trailer. I think it one version you're able to slow it right down and you can see his name on the helmet. Or at least, if you slow it right down, the name on the top of his helmet has too few characters to spell Holloway. I thought this was obvious.

---- in complete agreement, Vickers is the hero here as I see it. She is Captain and has to make hard choices for the sake of everyone, no one is saying that she has to like it.
I am a bigger fan of Vickers then Shaw, Shaw is no Ripley..
Coming out of this, while I am not sure how anyone could survive given they have no ship, I want Vickers to be the one who walks away from this one and maybe gets to stick around for another movie
Its Holloway.It seems to me the storm is probably their first trip out.Maybe holloway gets a slow infection.But in one clip i actually saw holloway saving shaw from the storm with no apparent infection.Im betting thats their first return from the temple or holloway may be infected when hes back on the ship.Them beating the storm except for shaw and the return with vickers and her flame thrower prove at least 2 trips.

I watched the clip and enjoyed the parallels between Vickers and Ripley in Alien, with both of them trying to keep the ship free of contamination. Vickers, of course, seems to be colder and have much more authority than Ripley did, but Ripley was prepared to make the hard choices, even though, as insinuated, she may have been romantically linked to Dallas.
I think that the movie is going to be very good by not being a duplicate of Alien, but there will be "echoes" where we know the danger facing them, and watch them walk right into it anyway.
Alfred Hitchcock (I think) once said the difference between shock and suspense is that you can show a man on a bus, and suddenly the bus explodes, and that's shock. But if you show the man on the bus, then the bomb, then people boarding the bus, the suspense builds, the audience gets tense.
Since this is clearly an Alien prequel, but it appears that the biology of the alien is different and there's no classic face huggers to be seen as of yet, we know that they're walking into something. Something bad that's going to turn into Alien.
Also, I have a strange, far out theory that I don't think I've seen mentioned yet about Vickers:

Having David be the bad guy is just too damn obvious, since they've tried to make him very creepy with the Weyland Industries promotional video, and have succeeded I mean really, to be creepier than Lance Henriksen?! You win one Internets and a basket of kittens. David's been promoted as so eerie and creepy that you'll just be waiting for him to "pull an Ash" and betray everyone on behalf of the Company (and you know that train is never late). So I think Vickers is an android and will be the Ash/Burke and David will turn out to be the good guy.

I don't think Vickers is an android. It wouldn't make sense to have 2 androids at different levels.
Not only that, Ridley has stated that he's not interested in rehashing a twist that's been done already. That's why David was revealed to be an android from the very beginning.
Charlize mentioned that her character starts opening up more towards the end. She's just somebody who wants to do her job and she's cold on the surface but she's ultimately very human underneath.

Yeah with the new clips I am liking her a lot more now too. Before she just seemed like a regular suit - but now she has really come to life and looks like a really interesting character.

If Scott wasn't interested in having another 'who is the android?' twist then we would know who the second replicant ;) is. We don't have a clue, so it's going to be a reveal of sorts.
