Nice call on that AvP R moment, it's been too long.

I'm one of its few fans, so I know it well. 8)

Hmm. Wasn't the other Predator still wearing his bio-mask and it was raining? Sure it seemed to be mourning his friend/partner/parent/child ala Wolf in AvPR but it would be awfully silly to me if I learned that a) Predators cry and b) Predators could cry through their bio-masks. :-\

Oh, I wasn't referring to human tears. And I don't remember that bit in AvPR, but the body language here appears more deliberate and intense than casual remorse. More specifically I'm referring to the consistent unique sounds it's making when Herrera approaches from behind, distinctly different than the sounds given to the one who was wounded and coughing.

Then it doesn't even look back at Herrera when he approaches, and barely even reacts to ship that comes, though it's surely well aware of both; that just strikes me as so damn despondent.

I may be off the mark, but personally the longer I look this is what I see, your mileage may vary, we have so little to go on.

Oh, sorry about that, you meant the "haff" noises. Yeah, possibly, I can see one interpreting it that way as crying.

For me, the Copper masked Predator was just stabbed with gauntlet blades and was bleeding,  plus whatever fire it took from the teams, so it making "haff" noises didn't seem to stray that far from the "kaff" and other various noises we heard wounded Predators make.

So I still don't take that as weeping or crying, but rather possibly weasing or just breathing heavy, but that's just me. :)  But clearly he wasn't happy about doing the killing of his kin.

And here's Wolf in AvPR taking a moment to mourn his fallen comrade:

I don't know if you guys noticed but I saw something in this I've never seen in a predator comic before, a Yautja weeping.

It wasn't super clear to me until I stared at the panels for a while, but once it kills its hunt mate, it's emotionally distraught and crying over what it just did, literally. Herrera witnesses this and shows compassion instead of killing it, and then when the rest of the fam shows up, the sad Yaut is lead away supported by its clan mate in heartbroken Rancor Keeper fashion.

I almost thought mother and child, but maybe space lover isn't too far off the mark. Regardless, there's a distinct deep and personal relationship there. Going back and just reading the pages with their story alone, few that there are, it almost seems like the silver masked one is an upstart undisciplined young blood joking around in the cave, relishing in the kill more than the hunt, more thrilled about gadgets than learning about tradition or technique. Willing to kill itself and everyone else after barely putting up a fight. Then ultimately, becoming the mentor's greatest failure. Es possiblé.

Will have to try again after some arbitrary period of time that feels right.

I had approached him about coming on the show in the past but he was too busy at the time, and then the swap over happened and I wasn't too sure about asking him back on at this moment in time.

I wish it shed more light than it does. :-\  Although it won't fix its issues, we really need to ask Chris one day what he was trying to convey.

That translation fits entirely with what I figured was going on based on the context of that first scene. The one with the brown helmet was clearly pissed that the other one had killed someone who was unarmed, and that animosity continued for the rest of the story.

Not entirely sure how a couple of stabs would have warranted the silver-masked one to try and do what he did at the end though, but the reasoning for them being pissed with each other at least I thought was pretty clear.

Thanks for sharing that! Never seen it before. It is interesting seeing the Predator glyph writing rather than the digital language. And much appreciated for the podcast feedback.

Always man, I love listening to you guys geek out. I hope to participate sometime, especially if it's a comic or novel related video or audio round table or something. I just saw the cover art variants for Marvel's new Predator series and they look really gorgeous, my cautious optimism is growing less cautious by the day.

Also, check out Slice and Dice again, if you get the chance. Well worth it. Comedy gold.
