We’ve known for some time now that Sega would be releasing a demo for the upcoming game. In a recent interview with GameTrailers, Rebellion producer, Tim Jones, confirmed that the demo may also include multiplayer:
“There will be a demo coming very soon, which hopefully you will be able to enjoy online.”
While we still have no set date for the demo release, it is on the way and it may feature the multiplayer mode.
Update: AvPGalaxy can reveal the demo will be released next week! Stay tuned for a full announcement from Sega. Thanks to ikarop for the news.
Update 01/02/10: It was an open secret, but now the date for the upcoming AvP demo has finally been unveiled. Xbox Live Spotlight channel featured an advertisement claiming the date for the AvP demo. It seems like the ad is no longer available online but we can confirm that it’s true. The demo will be released this week, Thursday Feb 4th as featured on the channel. We can also reveal that the demo will feature the multiplayer part of the game and will be available on PSN and Steam on the same date.

I haven't upgraded for 3 or 4 years and my PC still runs games coming out these days fine, I just went and upgraded cause i wanna run AVP at the highest settings cause I'm a big fanboy. Plus with the exception of Halo3 & Gears i dislike console FPS, xbox is suited better for games like Devil May Cry 4 (masterpiece).

Another update: According to SEGA's PR and to contradict the rumors. Nobody is aware of differing dates for the demo, which potentially means that the 3 platforms will get it at the same time.

I just saw an Ad on XBL spotlight that showed Avp screens and 4 already released trailers "3 breeds of warriors" and it said Demo 2/4/2010. I backed out of the Ad and it hasn't been up since! I little antsy on the switch by Microsoft for that relase info. I'm going with that as a confirmed Demo release! Thursday will be epic!

But 2/4/2010 demo release on XBL I'm confirming based on what appeared to be an advertisement on xbox live spotlight section that was released a bit too early because it has since disappeared. It had the 3 intro trailers with a multiplayer trailer with the tagline "3 breeds of warriors" hope that will get you guys excited as it did me :-D

Here we go again ladies and gents, good to see some of you ol' farts posting in this. Probably at the edge of your seats due to the reboot of this series which AJL seems to show arrogance rather than anything else, probably due rebellion giving the good ol' foot right in that mod of his which was slow in progress. Anyway, game looks good. Let's just hope we won't experience yet another decade of Seth or techy hatred who seem to have had a strong love with the last title. So far i've only seen console footage, kinda worried how the movement will work out, of course a good game isn't only due to it's graphics so let's not put that out of our minds here. However, the news about it being made for PC and ported for console afterwards makes it quite promising yet there remains a various amount of factors to make this a good game. Tho, I liked it when one of the developers spoke out of how long the had the idea of how to make the game but lacked technology / material. So I'm 50/50 with this game, anywho ... nice to see the most of you back you ol' farts.
oh and how will the demo be accesible ie, how can we get it if we dont have xbox?

There is an easter egg in the demo which allows you to play as a victim of one of the aliens while attached to the wall. The marines then try to save you and you have to help guide them out. Trust me, it's scary and VERY cool.

Have to ask, will the movement speed be slower on this one than AvP 2000 on Steam? When I tried the multi on it a few days ago I found it way too fast when moving or trying to aim to shoot an alien etc. I hope it is slower, COD speed!

Considering the PC version is on the back-burner, I figured the demo wouldn't come to the PC scene for months
Man...2 days...Thursdays going to be a ruff day for me I get mass effect 2 that day...but idc I'm downloading that demo as soon as it gets released on the market place. It's cool there will be multiplayer but I also hope that there is single player levels for each race so we can get a test run.

I heard it was deathmatch and team deathmatch on 1 map mulitplayer...then 1 mission from each of the 3 campaigns...witch only makes sence really...its just gonna be like avp 2 demo when that came out back in the day :)
I'm very excited for this - just got a brand new PC and its significantly above even the rec. specs for the game. I loved AvP and to a lesser extent AvP2 (cartoonish graphics were a turnoff, imo).. this on the other hand looks to deliver a pretty complete package.
Most demos feature a small portion of the single player. I think that the announcement about Multiplayer was for all those wondering if the Multiplayer would ALSO be in the demo, because there were a lot of questions in here about that. (I could be mistaken though).
Regardless, I'm glad to hear that it's coming to PSN the same day. Cant' wait til Thursday.

Kinda of, didnt play much Evac to be honest. Basically from what i can remember of it was a group of marines, got to get to a certain point on the map from a location elswhere on the map while aliens attack them and if i remeber correctly only one life,,, really carnt remember tho lol
oh rite no worries lol!! just seen a trailor of survivor mode and that looks unreal, so f**king ramped up for this game! and also i keep hearing diff dates for release? wat is it? 16th or 19th?

for 360, you have to go on the "browse demo's" and select the letter "A", after that you have to select "Aliens vs Predator" and select "Get Demo"
there is like no one playing the demo iav been waiting 20 mins and it cant even find one player not happy
If anyone is having a problem with the game being unavailable on steam and you are running vista like i am and nothing works.. Try this as it work for me after reinstalling Physx, updated video, Re installed steam and tried deleting conf file. restarted app and pc, installed all windows fixes which were already installed. etc..
Uninstall all .net frameswork SP under the security,windows update. Then go to steam directory, common, avp folder then to VS folder and install pack in there then restart pc and open game and should work. You can then reinstall updates if you like.. :) GIVE IT A TRY!
I thought the demo was a blast, the Alien is my personal favorite just because I got used to the wall-walk really quickly and can really zoom around the map at terrific speeds dodging attacks and catching prey unawares. The predator controls are a little more complicated, but once you get the focus jump mechanic down it gets easier. Marine is frustratingly difficult to play because any hit sends you reeling and helpless to resist a grab and execute move. Even worse, you tend to spawn in the immediate proximity of opponents who then quickly dispatch you before you can even get your bearings.
All around I'm not disappointed at all, I think the attack / counter mechanics are really novel additions to the franchise. I can't wait for the full game so I can hone my skills better in single player before taking it back to the arena.
