Title: 1987's Predator Stalks UK Cinemas November 9th
Post by: Darkness on Sep 27, 2017, 03:50:57 PM

The very first Predator film will return to cinemas once again across UK and Ireland in celebration of its 30th Anniversary. Unlike Alien and Aliens which have graced our cinemas many times in recent years, this marks the first time that a Predator film has been re-released.

In association with Park Circus, Predator will be shown for one night only on Thursday November 9th in Cineworld, Vue and Picturehouse cinemas. For those old enough to have seen back in 1987, you will get to relive those memories of one of Arnie’s best films and for those who didn’t, this will be one of the rare times you will get to see it in a theatre.

Here’s a special re-release Predator trailer courtesy of Empire:

Predator will also be shown in select European countries too around the same time.

Will you be going to see the Predator re-release? Did you see it in theatres back in 1987?

I'm really jazzed about this. I've never had the chance to see Predator on the big screen. Can't wait to get my tickets sorted.

Ooooohhh I'm definitely up for this and I even have that whole week off anyway (by coincidence)  - Yus!

I've managed to see "Alien", "Aliens" and "Blade Runner" in the cinema now when they've been re-shown in recent years so I'll happily add "Predator" to that list :)

Lucky for everyone in the UK it'll def be a blast from the past. Please do share your experiences in the cinema. The first time I saw Predator was on VHS😀 I can only imagine the "one ugly m@&$)&@" with the unmasking scene on the big screen equates standing ovation!

Yaasss! I have booked that week off work to play Call of Duty WW2. I wasn't planning on leaving the sofa but now this will pull me away from the Xbox. 2017 has been a great year at the cinema, Prometheus, alien, T2 3D, covenant and now Predator. All I need now is a blade runner sequel preferably set 30 years after the original and staring Ryan Gosling and my life will be complete.

I just checked Australia and it was the 12th of July here. I feel slightly sick. Still Blade Runner tonight might make up for it.

It doesn't look like it's aligned to any specific date. I mean Predator showed over here in November at some film festival according to IMDB but it wasn't widely released until the New Year in 88.

Yeah I think it's just random. I've had buddies in Canada watch other old releases this year. They are calling it rewind here in Australia. I noticed other movies pop up. Like we are getting Sean of the dead at the end of October.

Hey John

I'll be putting up a new thread in our "Gaming" section of the Forum regarding the upcoming podcast on your mods we have planned, before that date this month I was telling you about. I was just about to email you today actually. Members will be able to contribute questions to the podcast there. Very much looking forward to it.  :)

Mate, if you're in seq... event cinema in brisbane is playing it on the 12th for the anniversary but it's a private company that rented one of their theatres so tickets can't be purchased from event cinemas, they need to be pre purchased online

I saw this at Vue Bristol. I too have seen this film more times than I can count. The pq was the best I've ever seen it, ok so it was the dnr version and no grain in sight but I thought it was stunning. Some of the detail was very good, particularily Macs sweat beads after firing off Ole Painless. But.... There were a few  scenes where the image was out of focus probably due to the original source (??) but I'm not complaining. Sq was spot on. Was ace seeing it on a big screen.
Title: Re: 1987’s Predator Stalks UK Cinemas November 9th
Post by: Corporal Hicks on Nov 10, 2017, 11:31:46 AM
Yeah, was definitely the recent digital remaster done for the Blu-rays. The DNR is pretty bad early on in the briefing scene but otherwise I think it's fine. If anything, what I really noticed in the cinema was the audio. Found myself hearing dialogue I hadn't picked up on before, noticing some of the dips in the audio quality. I love seeing these films on the big screen, always find some new detail or something I miss out on at home.

My screen was pretty busy too which I was really glad to see.

Post by: Whiskeybrewer on Nov 10, 2017, 12:10:35 PM
Yeah it was fantastic to finally see and hear it on the big screen. Hearing some of the dialogue clearer than I heard before. It was strange hearing the sound as Mac "Shaved" *stop shaving you don't have a beard*

I swear there were a couple of extra shots I'd never seen before. Just little pieces here and there.

The film even had a few laughs in my audience lol

Although one guy tried to ruin it by taking pictures of the film. He was forced to leave when he was caught. His mates didn't leave with him though lol

I too thought there was an extra shot in it. Right before you see the crashed helicopter, it was just a shot of the jungle I thought I hadn't seen before. Weird.

I noticed a few things I'd never seen before. Maybe because you're drawn in in such a different way seeing it on the big screen. Like Macs shirt being ripped front and back when he strips his packs off. I couldn't figure out why this was. Other little subtleties too, made for great viewing.

It can't be Billy's, since we see him remove that later. It'd be Hawkins or Blaine.

Ohh wait... Maybe Dillon ? He's a worthy prey, even though we saw three skulls with no spines and he could have been one of them...

And, just to talk about something that bothered me since the beginning... Who is the skull with the hole in it ? Poncho or Mac ? I tend to think it's Mac because of the localisation of the hole, but i'm not totally sure.

I assume its meant to be Mac as Poncho was in the side of the head.

or it could be one of the missing Green Berets
