Title: Trailer analysis and thoughts about plot
Post by: Master on Jun 05, 2022, 06:11:33 PM
After watching the trailer something occurred to me. I think I know how the basic plot would turn out. I believe the Comanches and colonists/trappers are present from the very beginning and Indians are getting prepared to face off with Europeans (whole herd of skinned animals at 0:17 and camp scene at 1:11) . That`s what our protagonist is denied  to take part in (speech about hunt at 0:08) and that`s why she goes alone to train tomahawk throws in the woods (0:03). Eventually, to prove herself and to the tribe, she goes alone to track, face and kill the greatest predator of her world. The catch is, there is another even greater.
I think the scene from teaser (the running through the woods and laser pointer on the forehead) is right after the bear killing. In the outcome of the chase (I think the other Indian bites it) she finds her brother and his war party to warn them (1:02). The massacre of the colonists happens probably before, as she finds the blood on the tree while being with war party already (1:08). Rest of the scenes are from later part of the film and I dare not to place them in any specific order, thus this is where my analysis ends. Rest is speculation. I think it`s possible we`ll get another team up. Either with Bonehead Predator against larger force of colonists or there is another Predator who`s after Bonehead (Greyback rumor). There is also certain possibility the Sasquatch is in the mix (#TeamSasquatch4Life). I think we might get Machiko treatment, where girl denied by her tribe is accepted by predators. That`s it for now, I`ll expend when we get more material or more occurs to me.

She wants to hunt, sexist  Comanche men of the tribe won't allow.
She will hunt the bear, fail ,be saved by the crabator disguised as Mr Black.
So she will tell them and the men will try to kill it, they will lose.
In the meantime the evil white settlers will burn the villagers and the
village, killing women and children. The crabator has so much honour that
he will team up with Naru to kill the evil whites settlers, disgusted by their
behaviour.Maybe the crabator will coach Naru and train her so she improves her skill.
Better yet, maybe the crabator is a female and will understand Naru's gender fight.
They hug each other and the crabator goes back to his spaceship. The End.

I wouldn't like that at all. Hope it's not like that, we'll see.

*Sigh*... The salt is strong with this one. Gosh.

I think the trappers will actually play a pretty big part as antagonists rather than just adding more spice to the mix.

I think the team up would be really good, but it's very very hard to bring that to screen without the fans getting super frothy.

I think this one is by the numbers. Predator re-made and I'm totally fine with that.

I could dig another Predator in the fold to mix it up, but it seems a bit like.....why would that happen?

If the Pred and Naru were to team up, I don't think it'd be a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" deal like in AvP.

I think it'd be a "we're trying to kill the shit out of one another; but these other guys have jumped in on the action, so now we're gonna kill them AND each other" kind of deal.

No gentleman's agreement or truce - just a "kill whatever the f**k moves that isn't on my team" scenario.

I can think of a reason or two.

It would be way more interesting than the usual team up.

I'd hope we don't get yet another team-up. I'm so bored of them.

I don't see anything whatsoever in that trailer to indicate there's going to be any teaming up in this film. It looks like the Predator is just going to be hunting Naru, white colonists and animals all the way through.

Yeah, there's nothing to really indicate it could happen. I think it's just become so much of a trope that it's expected.

Hey guys. My written analysis of the trailer, trying to make sense of the scenes and put them into some sort of chronological order.

Just a couple of things. I think the shot of all the dead animals isn't related to the predator but is something the settlers did (pretty sure this is something that actually happened with the settlers killing off the buffalo en masse).

And the bit you called a misty/night forest, I think it's actually burnt forest and smoke. Hence why none of the trees have any foliage left (again I'm guessing this is something the settlers have done)

Nice analysis. Of note though, I believe Taabe is wielding a combistick while on horseback. You can see the telescoping spear extend.

I wonder if they showed us how the Predator die's.

That bit with her screaming at the end has a really big " I just jumped into a spike" vibe. The classic how do I beat a bigger thing than me kill.

Trailer looks OK but are we really gonna get a six stone girl taking on a Predator?  i mean come on.  I dont care if she has every trick in the book there is just no way that is going to work.

And why her?  who has trained her?  where does she learn all these techniques?  self trained i suppose?  I think we are getting a bit too much MsheU in this.

I mean, there's many ways for her to defeat the predator, as long as it feels earned, and that we feel she has gone through A LOT in the movie in order to succeed.

On a side note though, it is more complicated for her compared to Dutch to pull off some specific tricks, like the decisive big log trap, which he was able to do only with his physical strength.

So I think worrying about the fact that she could defeat a predator in a believable way is not an entirely invalid point either, I'm just staying on the optimistic side of things.

Also, at 1:53 in the trailer, it looks like there's a head or some body part attached to the spear when it hits the tree  ;D
