I listened to part 2 and yeah it seems like it was a good thing it was shelved.

Fox did not want 3 under performing or bad films back to back and they already had 2 strikes with The Predator and Alien Covenant. They knew that The Predator was bad but they did not know that Covenant would turn out the way it did. This would have been 3 strikes in a row and would have hurt the brand even more.

It really sounds like a good thing that AVP Anihlation was shelved if it was really that bad. Sounds like it was a disaster as soon as that director wanted to control all aspects of the project and he did not understand the franchise. Fox just let him do it and these 2 guys really really got screwed with getting their names taken off the project.

The original pitch was great,  and these 2 guys really know their lore and are real passionate fans but it spiraled out of control by the powers that be and by extremely incompetent leadership and morphed it into a mess.

Aramaki uploaded this to his Facebook.

Didn't waste any time getting to the Aliens, that's 2 minutes 40 in!

Nice to see they would've used a more classic Alien design.

Nightmare Asylum

In the comments under the photo Shinji Aramaki confirmed that the pic is six years old, and was taken at Panda Studio.

Hope he drip feeds a few more images (or hell, maybe even clips) like this over time...

skhellter

Release the full thing.

Don't care if it's not "lore accurate" or "would've destroyed the canon!11"

sounds like a fun anime project.
Let's see this cool looking magical alien girl bs and the cyborg predators.

That was major mood swings between transcribing that interview and seeing a still!

Xenomorphine

Definitely sounds like we dodged a bullet, as I had suspected.

of course - major bias in that interview. Their original project was rejected in favour of this. They were incredibly salty after that. Understandable.

I'm expecting that the anime would've been cool in the same way that something like.. Batman Ninja is cool - A wacky fun interpretation of a western franchise via japanese lens.
Would it respect "canon"? No. Neither did Batman Ninja. That's not the appeal of these things.
Would it look cool and be a lot of fun?? GOOD CHANCE OF THAT with this director. Black Lotus was a really cool show and Traitor of Mars was really good too.
"but it would've had a half alien/half human magical girl!" Yeah, that's anime bs, it's fine for what this thing is.

..i just hope the Predators got on a mecha at one point.
(even better if the mecha had dreadlocks for no reason).

hell - this thing is finished. It's not like the blomkamp weirdness, because this wouldn't change or or "impact the canon" in any real way, shape or form.

Nonsense to say "we dodged a bullet".
This series survived Alien Resurrection.

Just release it.

Nightmare Asylum

I remain on team "just release the thing."

If it's bad, well, then it's bad. But as it is now, it's completely made and just sitting on a shelf collecting dust. No sense in that.

And I really like that Alien.

BenditlikeBeckum

This could all just be a way to rows us into thinking its cheap, dated and not worth our time. Then it hits us as the greatest thing Fox could release to pay homage to the Alien(s) and Predator(s) films.

Stitch

Could be, but it sounds like it might have just been hot garbage

i'd rather have it respect the canon even though it's not a part of it. I did not enjoy Batman ninja, like they took it simple concept and they just wrecked it. Also what is this heat about the Neil blomkamp I thought people like his project

[cancerblack]

No, youtube chuds like his project.
