I think it would be a work best if it has the same vibe as Alien (1979) and Alien Isolation, the xenomoprh is stalking throughout the space station picking the crew off one by one.
Yup 8)

Due to the series' retro futurism artistic direction, it's perfectly in line with analog horror.

Yeah, as Turok said it is perfect for an analog horror it's just we need the right guy to do it.
Change the storyline.
What's an "analog horror"?

Think the "VHS" film series.

Ooooh that's a rabbit hole you can get lost in finding content and info online. A lot of amateur stuff, but a few gems that are great. I've been diving deeper and deeper into this and love it.
Alien is perfect for this genre if someone has to go the lesser budget rout.
So like a movie version of Alien Blackout? I think that's already on YouTube.
It would work if the cassette doesn't get stuck
Yeah this thing is getting mess up all the time

The genre is a lot more versatile than that. It doesn't have to be from a security camera's point of view like the Paranormal series.

I would definitely like this idea if the horror was more subtle rather than in your face
Didn't Alien: Covenant promise us analog horror with the retro-style spaceship like Alien? Instead, we got holograms and crap.

I wouldn't say crap but yeah it wasn't like analog horror

Versatile how?
So watched about half of that and I'm not sure how it goes much beyond watching Aliens on security cameras like Blackout. Could make for some creepy scares - not sure how you'd maintain it though.
John Carpenter knew how to do it well.

I'm not even sure myself if it would work with Alien. Analog Horror (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analog_horror) (aka Nostalgia Horror) seems like a proto-genre; an amalgamation of various internet phenomena (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_phenomena) such as; liminal space (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liminal_space_(aesthetic)), alternate reality games (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternate_reality_game), digital horror (https://aesthetics.fandom.com/wiki/Digital_Horror), etc. In a way a successor to the creepypastas (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creepypasta)
and as such it seems to perform better as an internet experience.
I wonder if the beast is so cooked that even something like the alley scene from Signs would be ineffective at making it scary again.
It might work in different lighting. Maybe. Not in full light like that.
Yeah it probably work better in the dark

Imagine being 100% alone on a ship, with those old school sounds on the hardware! Nightmare fuel for sure.😅
The aesthetics of the first film are made for analog horror. I think even the AI thing that Scott loves so much would be more terrifying here.
That's what I felt when I saw the first movie in the theaters. I kept imagining that the creature would attack Dallas or Ripley in the computer booth or would be waiting outside the door.

If I was 100% alone then I'd be very grateful of the opportunity to chill and do nothing for a bit.

So Skinamarink in space? That would be pretty terrifying. Maybe we can the Xenomorph be more of a serial killer rather the animal like.
Always found it cosy myself.

It probably is because when we first see the front entrance doesn't seem that big compared to the Dallas Lambert and Kane. But when we get inside of the ship, especially the egg chamber, it's a lot bigger all the sudden. I don't know if it's a error within the film or what you said.
Also adding about Skinamarink in space, remember a scene in the alien isolation comic that were a kid was in his bedroom and his xeno mother appeard then they hugged and it turns out he was face hugged in the first place. I think that can work as some sort of short Analog horror film.

It isn't just that, the egg chamber that Kane descends into is so deep that either it's a separate structure that projects underground and the Derelict is docked to it, or the Derelict is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.
It could have been just an error, or one could interpret it as a continuation of the Lovecraftian themes already littered throughout the movie.
I feel like this could work quite well. Aside from the prequels, the series has a very retro vibe to it anyway. I wouldn't have any issues with a film being presented to look like it was actually made on analogue technology. In fact, I think it'd go hand-in-hand with the found footage genre and that's something else I think Alien is quite suited to with the helmet cams in Alien and Aliens.
I think it might be something better done with fanfilm or things like the Tongal shorts (and I'm surprised no-one has really done a found-footage fanfilm) than a theatrical release, but I do think it'd work and wouldn't feel out of place.
