I'll let you guys go first

Well Aliens 1986 is considered the best movie in the franchise. And this game puts you in that movie, the same characters, same weapons, etc. which is what makes it really cool. And with all the fixes on PC it plays like a completely different game than Randy's original disaster. It also fleshes out many of the weapons used in the comics since like the NSG23, etc.

Whatever people think of it, this is the only game that is in the Aliens 2179 universe of the movie. And the edits and fixes make it very good nowadays (at least on PC).

So you're basically calling the original game without mods a disaster? Just asking out of curiosity

I didn't care about Aliens Colonial Marines being fanwank, because we knew about that way before it's release.  It also falls into the trap of constantly referencing and going to previous events and locations.

I cared that it wasn't fun to play and very unfinished.

I'd shoot at the Alien and the shit would be like old PS2 era gameplay.  Black back on PS2 had smoother gameplay.

People wanting to experience an actual Colonial Marines game I find to be a reasonable request, but this wasn't it.  AvP2 did the concept better.

In terms of how Marines actually are, AVP2010 did it better.

A commander top down perspective was better in Dark Descent.  I infinitely prefer the more, I'm in this person's shoes FPS gives us, but DD also I'd rate much higher than A:CM.

The concept for an Aliens based CM FPS game has yet to be fully realized.

DD was closer but fell into the old DH style (or 2000s era of AVP game storytelling) of writing where it just lacked that one last step into serious storytelling. It still to me feels tonally off.

If they could find somebody to combine the worldbuilding of Isolation, the feel of utilizing the second movies tech, with more grounded storytelling, without continually referencing LV426 and the Jockeyship (give us some new locations for goodness sake) in the FPS view I'd be down to clown.

If you take all of the EU references to LV426 and the jockeyship it is absolutely ridiculous how often these two items are referenced over and over and over again.  Move on.
