The Queen primarily exists for two reasons:

To thematically be a counter to Ripley's themes of motherhood.

To be a badass "final boss" for Ripley to fight at the end of the movie.

Without stretching for subtext, we can also say in "Alien" the Xenomorph primarily exists for one reason, to terrorize and kill the human protagonists one by one B-movie style. So I never understood reducing it this way as a way to dismiss it.

And from Giger to Ridley, the insect connection and inspiration was baked into Alien long before Aliens. And it was great to see where those eggs were coming from finally (before another option was widely revealed 17 or so years later).

Well I mean, I wasn't dismissing the Queen - my point was that she was included for more important reasons than to make the Aliens more ant-like.

Yeah I always thought they were too easy to beat in AVP2 in comparison.

Arguably, human beings, or really any host organism, are the eggs that the hive and all its constituent elements are the elaborate fertilization delivery system for. The Queen, the ovomorph, and the facehugger are all just nested layers for their central packet of genetic material. Once that material enters the host organism, our bodies provide it with additional genetic material and food to nurture the new resultant organism and next generation in the line is born.



Conversely, you could just say that the Hive reproduces "in the normal way".

True, but you regain better equipment quickly though. And you are in the hive obviously, surely the fight could've been more harsh.

Prince's fight was even easier with his equipment.

Honestly, that's why I liked AvP Classic's boss fight with her. Sure, it was just Aliens' climax, to be do it in the game was fun. I appreciated it being something that was less pew-pew. It's why I at least respect ACM for trying something different on that front.

Honestly, that's why I liked AvP Classic's boss fight with her. Sure, it was just Aliens' climax, to be do it in the game was fun. I appreciated it being something that was less pew-pew. It's why I at least respect ACM for trying something different on that front.
