The Predator will be released in IMAX according to a new article from Variety. Alongside Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Alita: Battle Angel and an untitled Marvel movie, The Predator will be digitally remastered using IMAX’s proprietary technology as part of a new agreement between 20th Century Fox and IMAX.
"After sharing success with such recent box-office hits as the global phenomenon Deadpool, we are thrilled to sweeten the existing deal with our friends and partners at Twentieth Century Fox by providing IMAX fans worldwide a selection of the studio's most exciting upcoming blockbusters," said Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and senior executive VP. There is no word on if The Predator will also receive a 3D treatment. Prometheus was also released in IMAX, receiving the same proprietary digital remastering and a 3D release.

Oh nice. This'll be interesting and shows its gonna be a BIG movie i think then, especially with the ones its lined up with
It's only a remaster though, not being shot in IMAX. Hopefully it'll look pretty regardless.
Nice to know it's getting the royal treatment, but i would rather know who is going to f**king star in the damn thing... ::)
Wish they would have saved that money on something else that could add value to the film. Not real big on IMAX and/or 3D Treatment (not saying this film will be getting the 3D Treatment). Prometheus' 3D was not real 3D...the only real 3D I saw was the Judgment Day "ride".
Lol. This is a deal Fox has with IMAX and has nothing to do with the movie's discrete production budget. It doesn't cost more money for them.
This is cool. The Predator deserves this.
So IMAX is paying for this to be remastered?
Yeah. Don't worry about it.
So they want an event movie for real.

Lol Prometheus was real 3D btw.
Wait guys. Are we talking about The Predator or The Predator? Cause remastered suggests the 1980's film but all the movies referenced are from 2016 or 2017. So which one is it. :P
They're going to remaster THE PREDATOR (2018), which will be shot in film or digital, and not in IMAX.
It wasn't real 3D...real 3D "comes out" from the screen. It is not just one image in front of the other.
High production value my ass. It's IMAX or bust, man.
Woohoo?
In the case of Prometheus, Real 3d refers to the fact that it was filmed with 3d cameras, and not converted to 3d after being shot digitally, aka fake 3d.

It's just the way the conversion works, rabbit. The film wont be shot using IMAX cameras (I don't think we know what they're using yet) but then neither was Prometheus (they used RED if I remember rightly) and that looked gorgeous in IMAX.
snake, it still wasn't real 3D, whether it was shot with 3D cameras or not. 3D images are to come out of the screen, all this was is camera tricks...like the 3DS.
Ultimately it is all fake 3D be it 1 or 2 cameras at work, Neither are capturing video information in a true 3D space in which you can move around in. So it just seems like a big waste of time if you ask me.
It's got legs though. I owe an old college buddy £50 as I bet the 3D fad would have died out by now but it's still going strong.
3D is useless. You got forced scenes of stuff flying towards you so you can go "ohhh" and that's all there is to it. Nothing wrong with plain old 2D, in fact, it's a lot better.

I find that only happens if its a post conversion thing. If its actually done in 3D for the most part, it can be quite effective
The gimmick stuff is terrible but when used for added depth and layers, it's not bad. The 3D conversion of Titanic looked pretty great for that kind of thing.
No real interest in 3-D although people must be as its still going strong.
Really like the IMAX treatment, fantastic.
I wouldn't want to see a 3-D Predator movie...it just wouldn't fit.
IMAX, however, sounds great. :)
I want Derek Mears to be cast as the Predator !!!
