Alan Ladd Jr. greenlit the casting of Sigourney Weaver for the lead role after seeing this, but on the condition that she is not allowed to smoke in the actual film.

Yeah, she smokes like an aristocrat (which Weaver basically is), not a blue collar space trucker.

Interesting how Ripley progress from a non smoker to a chain smoker in Aliens.

Ripley also has a cigarette in Alien 3.  However, the cigarette is out of frame and you only see the smoke off it.  It's the scene where they are gathered in the assembly hall after Andrews death.

When we spoke to Tom Woodruff he said the nude shoot wasn't for the film, it was just for Sigourney. They don't seem to have ever been released (assuming he wasn't fibbing.)
