Im trying to play this game again but I keep getting this error

well its never been so unstable

im using windows 8.1 on a acer v15 nitro laptop

run game in windowed mode is only way if you have windows 8 or 8.1 !
disable triple buffer and hardware cursor!

i suggest to use a default relosution of 1024 x 768 32 bit
for force a costum modern resolution there are 2 ways

way 1:
manual way for force avp2 in windowed mode command (c++) is: "windowed" "1"

for example:
++ScreenWidth 1680 ++ScreenHeight 1050 +windowed 1

for a resolution of 1680 x 1050 in windowed mode

AVP2 have always had problems with windows 8 but works well on windows 7/10.
this regardless of the multiplayer or single player
if you do not want to change the operating system (hell raccomanded)

you should also disable clear type option from the windows control panel,
and in the unlikely event that you have a graphics card nvidia.
exemple:
from my hp laptop win 8.1 64 bit
intel (r) core (tm) i7-4700mq cpu @2.40GHz
12gb ram
NVIDIA GeForce GT 740m

i have solved disable vertical sync
from the advanced settings for your video card.

what a nightmare.
I tried to go with a lower resolution in windows mode, it doesnt crash but it now just has a black screen in game i can hear everything going on but i cant see anything.

i guess windows 7 or lower is the only way to play this game

Thank you for posting, this is going to be very handy as I plan to uplift my computer to windows 10 pro so I could finally enjoy the 40go Ram I got Installed with an upcoming SSD.
I only pray that AVP2 will work smoothly, my machines is somwhat weirdly extreme when it comes to stability.
I can perfectly run Maya with 16K textures up to 1M polygons but, loading a BSP chunk in game takes about 6-12 frames, Lithtech was truly coded with giant dildos but I can't complain, they gave us this wonderful game

I never liked the french version, the font has a problem and doesn't look like the ALIENS one.
More like the regular Arial.

The voice over was probably good, even better for Rykov and Esenstein I think but it doesn't beat the overall quality of the original voice over.

Well, it is only recently by working on 6K resolution films that I found the need to go above 16go (default max by having 7 family 64bit).
Plus all software are now compatible and stable on windows 10, I thought it would be the ideal moment

Yes, I do have the original french version of both AVP2 Gold and Primal Hunt Edition.
French better learn English and Mandarin, much more useful languages

The other mirrors, some had corrupt files.


When in doubt? just download the AVPUNKNOWN one, but all other downloads are fixed anyway.
