Yea that alien is probably the "I am Groot" cutie pie some have been talking about. Seeing Little Groot dancing in some poor saps chest cavity sounds pretty terrifying to be honest. Maybe these chestburster pop out angry and ready to attack. Like literally after a quick look they jump out and bite someone in the face.

the black goo doesn't work on David. Unless it has an effect on his DNA which was protected by his synthetic skin. That's assuming a robot would have compatible DNA... although Weyland did say he made David in his own image so why wouldn't he incorporate his own DNA into David. Which would make the Alien a direct descendant of Peter Weyland in a way.

So there are female Engineers afterall, and they got breasts. i've been wondering if Engineers had females or if they lacked them due to genetically tampering with themselves and were trying to find ways to reproduce via studying the life they created.
This makes it interesting, maybe they genuinely made life as a scientific hobby rather than needing to study or harvest it.

I'm starting to wonder if the petrifaction/burning process is something to protect against outbreak. This is the fail-safe to do to population centres in-case of infections as they know how it grows, and they look both burned but also completely solid. Would also explain why the Jockey was petrified in a silly retcon (but not the large hole in him as it obviously comes from the inside out). If David is the creator of that form of the xeno, than that ship has been there way less time than suggested (unless they bring in wormhole bullshit in which case I'm out for good, I expect that from Star Trek, not Alien). We all know Scott is big on angles like this from the Vickers/Janek deleted scene from Prometheus, and by how much time he's spent in interview talking about the Alien being a biological weapon. Adding to this, are they screaming to be let out of the confinement area, or to be let in to whatever is behind the wall (again, like Janek's deleted story in Prometheus)?
I honestly hope this is early morning bullshit thinking and not true at all. After Prometheus, I am more willing to indulge my terrible ideas as well as the good one, as the creators of that film explored a lot of questionable ideas.

You also assume it won't move fast enough just bite a kick you are tossing out. You're not fighting a human, you are fighting a little hellspawn. Can't you just fast-forward or click the skip button? I've never had this problem because I combine the two methods.
I always click "skip" first and if it can't skip then I try the fast-forward button and that one usually works. Most of the stuff that can't be skipped (like the copyright wall of text etc) don't even last that long.
Maybe things are run differently where you're at. I mainly watch DVDs on my laptop or PS3.

Go make your own movie. Just think of how much is owed to you when someone says "Yeah. I downloaded it without paying." When you've made the effort and expect to be paid for it, you'll understand a lot more when it's your own pocket that isn't being rewarded.
Then go multiply that amount by 1000... or more. See how much you're really missing out because other people think you stuff is 'free', when it isn't.
Everybody likes to be paid for their effort. Movie makers are no different.

Actually just recently we wanted to watch oblivion, a movie from 2013 and it had that damn unskippable bullshit. Thought it was the player, tried another, well you get the point, it was a head ache and 30 minutes later it became obvious what was going on.

True, it all depends on the contract as well. I remember my friend telling me how he knew someone who wrote novels, and she went through two choices when discussing her contract.
On one choice, she could get paid a lot of money in one go for her novel to be published, and then leave it at that.
Or, she could get paid really low and then gradually gain income as each book is sold. I guess it's the second one where her income would suffer a heavy blow due to piracy of a novel not in the first one where she would've been paid anyway (around £4,000 if I remember correctly.)
I have no experience with this stuff, it's just what I heard him tell me about what she told him. Movie contracts may be different compared to novel contracts as well but he told me actors have these choices too. What you said just reminded me of that example so I thought I'd share what I heard.
Maybe an actual author on here might know more from personal experience.

Yep, I'm really loving the angle they are going with this. The grounded sci fi approach in this franchise is some of the best things of this franchise for me.

Except if the film doesn't return enough money those people who made it are deemed failures and don't get further work. Whether the filmmakers get their royalties isn't the issue.

Check the bargain bin at walmart. Which are merely repackaged dvds that didn't sell when it was a trend. However I've seen a few blurays that do it, however I think the players content protection actually causes a lot of those errors if it can't log on line to check the cert.

That's why most creative artiest have unions. Still, rarely does the content creators get blamed for a movies bombing. That generally lies at the feat of the Director/Producer/Studio. However considering most are either salaried or independent contractors... they're paid up front and a movies success general only means how much extra revenue is available for investment after the big wigs line their pockets. Movies are over priced and it has nothing to do with small kine borrowing. :P
Still f**k, movies are dirt cheap today. I mean netflix is piss poor cheap compared to the old way to watch movies at home.

Me too. Everyone was saying Aliens. But for me, it was only that rover that looked Aliens-like to me. The set itself reminded me of the guts of the Nostromo. Very plush but shiny, greasy and damp.

Yea but there blame is heavily shared where as the big names on the posters are the ones that take the lions share of the blame. Which makes sense, since they also take the glory when the movie is successful. Of course things could be done differently in your neck of the woods. Here all the professional trades from concept art to set construction to water-person are mostly union so whether a movie bombs or not is not at issue. That and most of the back work and even the cgi is rarely to blame for a movie sucking. It's the execution that usually causes it.
However with cgi so heavily incorporated it shouldn't be surprising how movie budgets have grown astronomically large. It's a collegiate (very high skill) profession that takes thousands of people in some cases.
What are you talking about? You agree if a movie bombs that the people on the poster take the blame - which hurts future employment opportunities - then say 'but whatever, unions'.
Unions don't guarantee work. They are equally irrelevant to the discussion.
Crappy movies may kill off sequels, so yea, jobs for a particular franchise but that's life. However the demand for more movies is still there and there will be work to be had on other movies. Still when was the last time we blamed so and so from accounting or make up for a bad movie?
Most people who work on a movie get a prevailing wage for time invested. None of them see any cut from the profit stream. Nor is there a guarantee that the same people will even work on a sequel movie. Even less people are needed for re-release/director cut/etc products. Most of that profit still goes to production companies that dish it out to share holders. I mean we're talking about how people are paid and a bomb doesn't mean they don't get paid unless I'm missing something here.

Pirating does take a bite but I honestly don't think it is the problem that it once was. I don't know all that many people who pirate movies anymore. I mean sure, broke college kids do and lots of people do but once they get out in the real world it's easier to appreciate the work done to make a movie. Also there's so many streaming services now. It's just so easy to buy an entire tv series for 30 bucks now days. The industry took too long to offer streaming movies and hell are the reason for pirating. No, I don't support that 2 weeks out movie thing being discussed in the other thread.
Still we don't get refunds for wasting money on a shitty movie... and most studios pay next to nothing in taxes.

Also I'm starting to think that Sil doesn't even care about piracy but more so that Lynch can't get work... however that happens to a lot of people. There's several youtube channels dedicated to that type of situation.
It probably boils down to figuring out too much about the movie prior to release. And people figuring out so much that the whole movie and its plot is explained and the whole theatre experience is a letdown. So if they don't remain firm and take action that's probably what will happen.
At the end of the day, anything that comes out that isn't via Fox isn't something they want out there. They do like to orchestrate their own plans for releasing this information into the wild. More often than not they end up giving it away themselves but that's their own prerogative.
Well I had hoped they learnt from Prometheus the whole movie was basically figured out before it screened and I think they don't want that this time around . I mean to say that I think they want to prevent it from happening this time around. Who knows.

Although fox does benefit form the fevered pitch free viral marketing you all do for them. So it's a double edged sword. Still we rarely ever get that special surprise that was seeing a movie not knowing what was going to happen. Then again Alien: Covenant is sequelitis or in this case prequelities. We really did ruin ourselves with the internet.
Prometheus had a kick ass trailer but it also gave most of the movie away. I hope they at least try to restrain themselves this time.
Would be nice if they learned from The Force Awakens marketing and realised you don't need to give away the plot in the trailer for people to be interested.
