But from an objective stance the suits looked fantastic in all those films, at least when demonstrated in isolation on ADI's youtube channel or DVD extras during making of segments.

At first i was like, wut? But then I read.

QuoteI'd second that the PREDATOR suits in AVP were "sometimes" dodgy looking, despite more animatronics used for facial expressions. Their seemingly being unable to close their mandibles, colour scheme for their skin tone people "liken to a cheap halloween mask".

Yes. Exactly my friend. Halloweeen masks indeed.

QuoteI'd have to watch PREDATORS and AVP back to back again, but you're right that PREDATORS does have some good suit work. "The crucified predator" was one of few wow moments in the 2010 film.

They're not Stan Winston Studio but KNB gets kudos definitely!

QuoteOverall though, suits do not maketh a good movie. PREDATORS has moments that are Uwe Boll tier.

In my opinion, in comparing Nimrod's work in Predators to other directors, Boll seems too low a tier to me. Paul Anderson is one step above that but I personally wouldn't stop there. Who's a name with a body of work above Paul Anderson. McG maybe?

Ok I get that ADI recycled suits from Resurrection for its 2 AVP movies. I'm not a fan of Resurrection and wish it wasn't made either.

The Alien suits in AvP:R were terrible.

Wasn't nearly everything?

Prez

One of the best podcasts I've heard from you guys. Really great listen. Nimrod was so candid and generous with his thoughts and side notes.

Makes me appreciate Predators even more. Gonna watch it again really soon.

Well done Ryan & Aaron.

Finally gave this a listen and I agree with @Prez that this has to be one of the best 'casts yet! Great interview guys. Really cool that Nimrod read some of the comics growing up!

@Hicks I had a good laugh at your reaction when Nimrod said people argue over cinema as fiercely as they do politics  :D

NIMROD ANALTALL...is a SUPER MEGA BIGTIME LIAR

Him trailer promised us....a HUNDRED PREDATORS FIGHTING THE BRODY (the raging bull of heroic pianists) and instead...only THREE?

Very boring film. To much talking and walking through jungle...like first movie not enough of THE PREDATOR which is what i paidand wanted to see. Not enough of the HEARTPOUNDING ACTION and DEATH DEFYING COMPUTER GRAPHICAL ENERGY BLASTERS thqt i have come yo expect and love, but always keeping it from becoming TO INTIMIDATING by allowing the characters to have the fun and make THE JOKES even in the face of certain doom. To show us that even in the DARKESKT OF TIMES we must show our best faces and go happily into the furure. In this we have found our true PINACLE OF CiNEMATOLOGICAL ART kniwn as THE MARVEL FILM EXTENDED CINEMATIC UNIVERSE of which i have watched from the time of a young child looking up at the Iron Man with wonderment and am a proud product of the Disney teachings.

Shane Black in his THE PREDATOR movie created THE ULTIMATE PREDATOR of the 21ST CENTURY. Fashioning it in the image of the Disney films if SUPERERO ADVENTURING. In this, no other film of this Predator franchise can have surpassed him, certainlu now this PredatorS film, made by the NIMROD OF HUNGARY

By my count it's still about 10-12 years before people get it.

So was nearly everything.

The Cruentus

Good podcast, Nimrod seems like a decent guy who respects others' opinions.
I like Predators and I think its decent edition to the franchise.
I feel there is some trolling going on this thread though, I mean how can someone say the suits in AVP/AVP-R were better than Predators? The reason why the aliens were always in the shadows in requiem was probably because the suits don't really look good. I mean from a craftsman perspective, it still better than anyone could build at home, but as a good alien aesthetic? it wasn't in my opinion. They worked in Resurrection but not in AVP/AVP-R. The Pred suits were not the best in the first AVP either, especially the face and eyes. Predators looked far better in Predators than AVP.

...NIMROD OF HUNGARY

Even if it was just trolling for the sake of trolling I still think that bit was pretty rude.

It's mockery,
of another user's unfounded perspective.

[cancerblack]

Referring to someone as "(name) of (country)" as a farcical slur is f**kin comedy gold tbh. The fact that you can add a "the" because of this guys particular name just ramps it up. Unfounded, undeserved, yet hilarious.

Ridgetop and Hicks: Excellent job!  Nimrod Antal, thank you so much for doing this interview, for sharing your recollections and insights about your experience making the film. I enjoyed Predators a lot and would have loved to see the sequel.

Russ

Fighting the Brody is a good name for a band.

GreybackElder

Excellent interview as always gentlemen! I have always loved Predators. I'm sure some might disagree but overall this movie is right up there with the original for me. The tone of this movie is so akin to the original because it really brought a sense of wonder and awe to the predator. It really expanded the mythos without trying to hard and creating controversies within fandom. It had new predators, with new tactics  and armor which really gave them their own character. I loved that this film took itself seriously too. it wasn't trying to hard to be funny or silly.  Great job to everyone who worked on this film.
By the way. Something that always intrigued me. What does Hanzo the Yakuza guy say In Japanese when he first picks up the samurai sword? In English it almost sounds like Coro kabashi?
