It makes sanse for the huggers ;D
But come on, they just want a hug ;)
What I'm wondering about... how will it work in the predator's case. You'll have to push the button repeatedly as well? I mean, they are much stronger than humans.

make perfect sense for Facehuggers to always want to make sweet, sweet love to your mouth...

It makes sense to you?

Hmm. Kind of like a Call of Duty In-Yer-Face moment, a good point. But it would make perfect sense for Facehuggers to always want to make sweet, sweet love to your mouth...

Just sayin'.

You guys also aren't considering the Facehugger may be a one-time thing.

Man, these pics are full of so much freak'n WIN! :o It makes the wait all that much harder. lol Almost there...

I noticed the multi-colored glow for humans in the Alien campaign, too. I'm guessing it's to indicate whether they're armed/unarmed or civilian/military. They definitely weren't synthetics in the footage shown. I'm pretty certain this is how it works. If it is, it'd be an excellent method to easily prioritize your targets.

So Predator scans data on its prey. Humans is Ranged 2 an Melee 2. That doesn't seem right though when Aliens is Ranged 1 an Melee 2. So now the Marine is as much threat to the Pred in Melee as the Alien? lol Should be Ranged 0 an Melee 3 unless it considers the tail a gun. An Marine should be Melee 1 at best.
...

Might be a bug, yes.

Indeed. Plus it doesn't take much with any weapon to kill the hugger. Or take 3 of them with a single nade. Hows that for insta-kill.

Worked just fine in the previous titles with insta-deaths upon facehugging.
It was the whole point, you were extra cautious when the huggers where around....

Also I swear this would be SUCH a good place for them to sneak in an over Nine THOUSAND reference. Maybe if scanning the corpse of a dead Predator after the self destruct is activated :P

You are going to be alone most of the time in SP so if the huggers are scripted to attack you during the time when another marine is close to you. If you are alone, you need your both hands to block it (lose your gun) then struggle, then throw it away, then get your gun back and shoot it. Interesting to watch in a movie but sux in game.

I got the idea from Uncharted 2. In co-op, there are those sneaky mercenaries that'll choke you from behind and the only way to get them off, is with the help of your partner.

because it's more intense and scarier that way like in the movies?   Even facehuggers aren't successful everytime.   Otherwise Newt would have been caught without a struggle.  Ripley would not have been able to keep it away long enough to get help.
I think it would be a great gameplay mechanic if you have to press a button to keep it away, but a teammate has to rush to you in order to get it off. Without anyone around, you should be a goner.

I think that's a great idea for Aliens: Colonial Marines! Would really fit with the co-op gameplay.

Emphasis on help. Getting a Facehugger away from you, while it doesn't have it's tail around your neck is one thing, but once it got it's tail around your neck, there hasn't been anyone that got it off without help.

Why the hell insta-deaths worked in previous games and suddenly we have to smash "f**k" button repeatedly over 9000 times instead of smoothly loading a quicksave?

Quicksaves are more hand holding than a "f**k" button anyway.   The way it works now keeps the experience more consistent.
