Michael Fassbender shows musical skills in new Alien: Covenant production still. It’s a new day in the Alien: Covenant teaser trailer pre-release week and you know what that means! Another production still courtesy of the Alien Anthology social media accounts, this time of Michael Fassbender with a piano.
Those of you who read our exclusive report about Guy Pearce’s appearance in Alien: Covenant might recognize this imagery. Whose haven’t can read up on it here. Beware spoilers for the opening sequence of the film.

Unlike the last four production stills, today’s still doesn’t come with any numbers. Yesterday’s number yielded a result in the GPS co-ordinates theory. Wednesday and Thursday’s numbers led to a location near Fada, Chad. Fada is well known for ancient cave paintings and the imagery matched up quite nicely with Prometheus. However, they could simply be time stamps indicating when the stills were taken – another popular theory.
The agonizing for the Alien: Covenant teaser trailer continues. We’re expecting to see it released at the weekend, likely Christmas Eve or Christmas Day depending on where you are in the world.

New pic is up of david at a piano
On closer inspection im now getting the impression that it is walter and not david sitting at the piano. The hair gives it away. Also now, there are just dashes on no numbers...does this mean that there is no more code/dates/timestamps to be given out and that we are at the end of this pictorial teasing phase?? Trailer to,oz would be lovely.

Because Weyland's personal David liked blonde hair and dyed his hair back then (imitating the the hair of his favorite film character), even before the mass production of David8 model. This scene probably took place just after the creation of first model/ Weyland's personal David.

Well your statement is the best indicator of great difference within Alien fanbase.
This image is great... Very reminiscent of 2001 Space Odyssey. I think this
particular scene will contain most of the philosophical connotations and symbols the rest
of the movie will pursue to explore. It ll also provide some interesting hints of David's nature, soul
and his "intentions".

Very possibly. This movies are all about him, or rather about creations. Even original movies are about creation,
conception and the fear of unknown. He, David, as an android is human creation and also the latest one (in Alien universe chain of events).
Nature boy is the song featured in the trailer, so the opening scene of the trailer will most probably be some
scene with David because he is that "strange enchanted boy".

The current edit of Alien: Covenant begins with David 8 being brought online in a large white room with a grand view overlooking an ocean.
A younger, but still somewhat aged, Weyland asks David various questions to test him. We eventually move to David performing Richard Wagner's Entrance of the Gods into Valhalla, explaining the meaning of the piece as he plays.

Just my opinion of course Enoch, I got more excited by the first few images. Not to mention the Empire scans from Gazz. Not saying the image isn't interesting of course, as someone who studied lens based fine and applied art in university I'm of the opinion that every 'image' has something interesting to offer. This one just doesn't create the same buzz in me as the first batch. That is all. With regards to the actual image and how it connects and plays out in the film, it certainly makes for a very different setting in an Alien film. While I preferred the first few stills, This one still looks great imo, reminds me of THX-1138 blended with 2001 and A Clockwork Orange.

David continues the tradition in the Alien franchise. It might have been coincidence that they named synthetic in Prometheus by the same name as David Giler. Perhaps they wanted to break that pattern in Covenant and came with Walter, this time not by coincidence, paying tribute to Walter Hill.

I thought the image is kind of a callback to the map room scene in Prometheus. If I remember correctly, David sits down at the Engineer's control board and sounds out musical notes to activate the holographic map that hints at the Engineers' plans for Earth. Also, "robot pianist" sounds pretty funny. ;D
