You think she might travel through a wormhole and meet a hologram of her dad on a beach? Wasn't that in one of those bogus scripts... :-\

Maybe it's an interaction with an earlier David model, that plants the seed to find her own creator.

*Edit. Too late.

What he said  :P

Didn't all the androids in Blade runner lose their parents at young age and were implemented with fake memories and given old photos?

Just question.

Ever seen "Contact" with Jodie Foster (1997!!!). That's exactly what happens.

They never had parents; they were artificial. Some collected photographs because they represent memories and personal history. Replicants like Rachael were given fake memories to fool her into thinking she was human. A form of control.

That is what I am talking about the flashbacks might be jsut implemented memories, like the unicorn dream Deckard had. Otherwise why bother with childhood flashbacks?

The TWIST could be...Shaw is the android, and her quest for the origins of life, the creator of life comes from some inherent programming. She may have memories of being a young girl and she dreams of said memories, but they aren't real, they're some one else's memories.

An android heroine...that has so much potential.

I don't think the twist is the android idea...but some one we believe is absolutely the most human (Shaw?) discovering that they are not human. It's like the real boy discovering he's actually a Pinocchio. That's some heavy shit full of philosophical implications.

Twists for the sake of twists are lame (as for example, The Usual Suspects once proved), there is so much more to the movie-making than just twists and endings.

If she worked on set with Fassbender, maybe its because they were filming different scenes on the same day...

Or maybe Shaw has a dream of David8 with her as a child in the dream.

I've also considered the idea of Shaw being a robot. The one person that we expect to be human turning out to be a robot would be a "Sixth Sense" type of shocker to many people. If she does give birth to something that takes on her traits, then maybe that's where the "mechanical" in our Bio-mechanical Xenos originate from. The mating of organic and robotic life forms.

True. I think - I hope - that this appears when she is in hypersleep. I suspect that shot of David in the yellow goggles is when he's accessing the sleeper's dreams (which would be a nice nod to Alan Dean Foster's novelizations) and he sees Shaw dreaming about her childhood.

That would only be logical if artificial components, like metal and plastic, had DNA.

Depends. Remember "Nanotech" was one of Weyland's specific remarks for the 21st century.

Big things do have small beginnings after all. :)
