Maybe the practical looked too different from the fast moving cg version for them to mix them together. Shame because xenos have so often been practical.

You can tell, just from the brief view of it, that the practical suit had some serious limitations.

Ther fact that they CGI'd over the Alien on the ship, reminds me of the Prequel to The Thing a few years ago.
