i couldn't help but notice different executions on different gameplay videos, are they weapon specific or do they require some sort botton combinations?

There are two sets, depending on whether you have the wristblades extended or just your bare hands. The specific kill you get within those two groups is random though. There are also a few location based executions that can be performed on a grabbed enemy, and these are determined by your proximity to a wall or a railing etc.

The other weapons have moves that will finish an enemy off, but they aren't 'executions' as the game system defines it (ie stealth kills). The combistick can be used to impale and loft enemies, where they can subsequently be hit by the plasma caster or cut in half by the disc in mid air. Combos can be performed with the glaive or maul which result in the enemy being sliced in half, or impaled and torn asunder. And the speargun generally dismembers whichever part of the enemy you target, including the head.

Really, there is a whole slew of ways to dispatch your enemies in this game, which is one of its finest qualities. Perhaps the only downside is that none of them are required to beat the game, so unless you actually challenge yourself and master the various moves it's possible to just button-mash your way through the game.
