I'm still in therapy because of Blue Monday.
Why?
Sound editing project at SAE, where we had a copy of Blue Monday that was cut wrong and we had to re-edit it into the correct order. With reel to reel tape and sticky tape.
That makes sense ;D

I never EVER want to hear that song again.
Personally I dont like it when a cover song sounds almost identical because i cant see the point in them. I like it when a band or artist covers a song in a completely different style. So for example a metal band covering another metal song seems a bit pointless to me.

Rog and the Bleeding Hearts =/= the Floyd.
However, yes Van does a cracking job on that version.

(Couldn't find anything other than this Rock Band version.)
Cover: Jimi Hendrix

Now, I love the Dylan version, but Hendrix adds his own brand of awesome, and as a result, his is infinitely better.
Heres a great example of a cover that did something completely different to the original and at first glance, if you arent paying attention you may not even realise its the same song.

this is a great cover of a great song, purists may disagree, but at least they kept the "no god" line in

The version I prefer is pretty evident (no doubt). Nina Simone's version is great, but in this case it's kind of like All Along the Watchtower from Bob Dylan to Jimi Hendrix. Kimbra just adds a completely different energy to it, and sings her heart out with as much passion as Nina did back in her day, just with a different style. That's the best kind of cover.

The original takes some beating though, it's a perfect conclusion to The Downward Spiral's narrative and is chillingly desolate.
Anyway, my cover of choice, Sonic Youth (or Ciccone Youth in this case) do dirty, sexy things to Madonna's Into The Groove.
