Mr.Warrior666

To me, this is a very bad idea. I think Ridley Scott is going to ruin the franchise forever by continuing the story of the prequels, confirming that the Space Jockey is just a humanoid in a suit who was dead for 18 years on LV426 or that he is just David and his creations. I think he will also ruin the Xenomorph Queen as another creation of David. Ridley Scott is going to ruin Alien 1979 by taking away all the mystery and cosmic horror. It is very sad that Ridley Scott is coming back, it is very bad news.

At least he would hopefully keep the next film from being just a shoot 'em up type movie featuring the Marines....

I'm pretty confident about that.
Romulus has at least created an approach to connect the prequels with the classic story. It is still possible.
Those who can't do anything with the prequels won't be happy about it and will have to stick with the old films and leave everything else behind.
The fan camp is divided anyway.
After the success of Romulus, I don't think that Scott will completely dictate the direction as producer, but I could imagine that he, together with Fede, will try to close the still open connection with David, which I think would be very good.
For his part, Scott would just have to be willing to accept the existence of the classic queen.
Make a decent connection and clarify all open questions. Everything depends on the next film.
(there is still hope)

First off, it's hardly been confirmed that Ridley is coming back to direct. That being said, I pray to God he does. I have loved everything about the prequels. Specifically, David, the Pathogen, and the Engineers.

When I first saw Prometheus I was expecting elephant faced spacejockeys, but I was pleasantly surprised to get the Engineers instead.

Immortan Jonesy

Ridley Scott is going to direct? I thought he was going to be a producer on the next movie (most likely the Romulus sequel).

Although I would be more than excited to see another Alien movie with cinematography by the legendary Ridley Scott.

The Cruentus

He should just do a conclusion for his prequels and then move on. Let the franchise go back to being more grounded and less black goo focused.

Ralpcguire

I totally agree, it's a shame that Ridley Scott is continuing the prequel story.

Nightmare Asylum

There is no confirmation whatsoever that Ridley Scott is continuing his prequel story.

There's a chance that Fede Álvarez might, if he does bring David into the fold in his Romulus sequel. But that would be Fede doing so, not Ridley.

Corporal Hicks

Yeah, I think some guns have been jumped. This is more than likely just the Romulus sequel that Scott is producing again.

After watching Covenant in the cinema, I said to myself I wouldn't bother seeing the third film in his prequel trilogy in the cinema.  He's proven himself to be completely incapable of expanding the series in a way that makes any real sense.

SM

It is a good thing and there should be more of it.

(Also what Hicks said).

Local Trouble

@Kimarhi has power of attorney over my opinion in this matter.

Acid Splash

I'm rather open to it I think Fede does characters much better than Ridley has shown him doing lately. A joint sequel to Romulus/Covenant I think could be really good. One ship is heading to a supposed paradise with Andy and Rain, which could very well be the same place that David and the colonists went. I want to see the nightmare kingdom David has made for himself to play god on. It would also show that both David didn't really invent the aliens as well as showing he's not the space jockey due to the timeline of where Romulus falls.

I would rather the Xenomorph become a bug without a backstory than to have another movie where David is referenced

Nightmare Asylum

You might be out of luck, then, given Fede's reverence for the prequels.
