I prefer no skull appearance wise, it makes it seem more intimidating. The skull to me gives it too much of an identifiable personality that takes away from the Lovecraftian nature of the beast.

I don't mind it being barely visible like how it's done in the movies, I'm just not a big fan of how it looks in merchandise or fully lit where it's really obvious and just prefer no visible human skull.

The skull adds a real creepy aspect to an already creepy design. I like it.
