What baffles me more is the bits that are like the script but not the film.

Slutty Badger

Pushed back to October 23rd.

Is the Romulus script readily available?

SM means for Aliens.

I'm so sad this got pushed back to Oct. 23... i was hoping to have a copy by today. I'm really looking forward to this.

TheBATMAN

Well this was disappointing. It doesn't really tell us anything knew and Big Chap doesn't really do a great deal here either...

Any more details?

Anything about the Narcissus?

I bought this on Kindle this morning and read it in about 10 minutes. Only 31 pages including front and back cover.
In short it was a huge disappointment. There's nothing in it that isn't explained in the film. Big Chap has 2 decent kills but is unleashed and killed in the span of a couple of pages. All it really shows is Rook extracting the goo from Big Chap then using it to 3d print the facehuggers. The only moderately interesting bit of info is that Rook has a run in with a Weyland suit. Rook wants to use the Xenos purely to create the improved human drug while Weyland want them to clear out colonies they no longer need or want as it's deniable and cheaper than extracting the colonists. This is the clearest use case I have seen for what Weyland planned to use the Xeno for.
Anyway the artwork is subpar as is the writing. On the plus side it was only £3.99 and the kindle flow is great for reading comics. If you have a physical copy pre ordered it will make for a nice bit of merch but don't expect anything groundbreaking

Anything about the Narcissus?

Spoiler
Nothing mentioned about the Narcissus but it seems to imply they already have it because they talk of Big Chap killing six of the Nostromo crew members and that they know the creature originates from LV-426.

The Nostromo wreckage is labelled as being near LV-426.

The comic shows Rook harvesting Chap's DNA and synthesising the facehuggers. He wants to work on his black goo project but the head scientist wants the specimens delivered to the bioweapons division  based in Romulus lab.

Rook and the other scientists believe Chap is dead and the control rig housing him is secure should that turn out to be not the case.

A former colonial Marine named Hyla and her partner Adrian decide to flush Chap back into space, believing it is still alive and just biding its time.

Whilst Rook and the others are distracted, they both go to Remus lab. Hyla tries to sabotage the facehuggers being printed in the cryo room, which explains why the room is partially flooded in the film. Meanwhile, Adrian shuts down the control rig, at which point Chap wakes up, kills him and runs off.

Chap heads down to the conveyor belt on the lower levels where the facehuggers are being transported to Romulus lab. It then uses its tail to slice open the containers holding them. One scientist bolts and the others trapped inside are all facehugged, explaining why the hive is down here.

Chap has a couple more kills, including the fleeing lead scientist from Romulus lab, before it is tracked down by Rook and Hyla in what must be a room above Remus lab where it is building its own hive. It uses its tail to slice Rook in two and Hyla shoots it dead. It's acid causes decompression and Hyla is sucked out into space before Rook can seal the station.

The end.

... yeah ok

TheBATMAN

As soon as it was announced as a one-shot, I knew this was just going to be a cheap, quick cash grab. They should have done a proper fleshed out prequel novel if they were going to do anything at all.

The comic doesn't give much of a timeframe, but it's implied that everything happens only a few days after Chap is brought on board, suggesting the station has been in freefall for months.

Kind of makes it even more absurd that no one from the company checked it out at all.

Thank you for your inevitably underwhelming summary.

Slutty Badger

What a pile of f**king shit.

TheIrrationable

Given the lack of info regarding the Narcissus, coupled with Fede's sly comments during the AVPG interview, I wonder if it's going to factor into the plot of the Alien Isolation sequel...

Xenomania96

Unfortunately the comic is really underwhelming and I wasn't expecting much. In all honesty I was kind of hoping for a simple rehash of Alien. Have Big Chap wake up and ambush kill a bunch of people around the station and finally get cornered and shot up with some nice artwork but the comic is sprinting towards the final page. That's reflected in art and the dialogue.
Spoiler
Hyla, one of the security guards, wants to kill Big Chap immediately and her partner Adrian just goes along with it. I understand Hyla's motivation but it's so paper thin and boils down to "I didn't shoot the scorpion creatures enough when I was a marine on a mission and one took my eyeball so I need to kill the alien because I have a bad feeling about it."

The art is also confusing and maybe that's just me but when Big Chap dies and his acid blood causes a decompression event there's no panel showing his blood eating away at the station. In one panel Hyla is shooting big chap and in the next panel she's hanging onto a wire or something getting sucked out into space. Then in the next panel she's below Big Chap's body and then above the body. The spacing of the characters is all over the place. It makes me wonder why it was pushed back when clearly everything was so rushed.
