The Derelict being explored by scientists and that android shit sounds like dope to me,
i always thought and wanted more exploration then running and being scared.

You wont really get any big flood of news until the films are in actual production.

Wouldn't there be an official announcement from the studio or something? Prometheus 2 has some tid bits on news, kind of. Alien 5 - has very little news. I think the internet would be on fire with all the news. Plus 2016 seems very much rushing it. Just my two cents. Then again about my statements, I've kind of left searching for news until it really starts getting big.

It's not been confirmed but he's the one giving most of the updates.

I'm not sure I mind that much if he doesn't direct it, provided they get someone else good and not someone no one has heard of. The series always chose someone to direct with a bit of hype and acclaim behind them. If he produces I'll be satisfied.

Is Scott directing P2? I mean I hope so, as that's one of the major draws to me, but it's not confirmed is it?

I don't think 2016 is possible unless PROMETHEUS were to start shooting this Fall, WHICH doesn't seem possible given the shooting schedules of Fassbinder and Rapace... Even if it were able to do so, and Scott is likely to be in high gear while producing both, if you read through what I wrote, you'd see I think AT BEST it would be Xmas 2016 and then 2017 for the second film.
When asked if P2 and A5 will be PRODUCED in tandem, Blomkamp responded by saying he wants to "keep some of his cards close to his chest." So that to me, means there will be some kinda story regarding the making of both films - the two productions - which will involve / overlap each other. Perhaps they will PREP together and then splinter. That sounds like a solid plan from a producing perspective. Since it would create cohesion in the production design/ art dept areas , which Scott is ALL about in his Sci-Fi movies.

Sure, why not?  Make it the year of the Alien.
Year of the Alien would probably be 2017. And if that's the case, they also need to release new Alien games during that year as well (Alien: Isolation 2, maybe another crack at Colonial Marines, and talk to Obsidian about reviving that Aliens RPG). Along with a new round of books, these will hype the movies for a 2017 release.
