I know this is extremely short notice but Empire magazine has been/is hosting a special cinema event, called Big Screen, over this weekend and tomorrow features an Alien focused panel:

“A panel of behind-the-scenes crew recall the making of a science-fiction masterpiece, as hosted by Ian Nathan, author of the forthcoming Alien Vault...”

Featuring on the panel are Dennis Lowe, who you will remember doing the fantastic Alien Maker and Alien Fan documentaries. Also there will be Ivor Powell, producer for Alien. Tickets will be available on the door and I believe around £12.  So if you’re in or around London, come join me at the panel.

Ah, too bloody short notice for me! I can't complain, I'm skint anyway, and travelling to London is pricey. Have fun, son!

£14 pounds it cost to get to see that alone. I enjoyed seeing Dennis Lowe, Jon Sorensen and Ivor Powell

Yes, expensive. Our Alien Encounters event in September is only £13 for the whole weekend and includes an annual pass to the Space Centre! Now that's value! ;)

Great to meet wmmvrrvrrmm today – I was hoping you'd wear the pyramid and I was not disappointed!
And cool to hang out with Cpl Hicks again today and costumer Gareth Ellner (aka Abe T. Alien, soon to be seen in the Dennis Lowe doc, Alien Fans 2).

Always fun to talk with other fans about Alien, Giger, Prometheus etc, and have the sort of conversations in person that  usually have to take place online. Empire panel was pretty good, enjoyed it and the panelists were engaging. Hope this Empire event grows and maybe brings us a Prometheus panel next year.

Ian Nathan's book is a must so get saving and grab a copy from Amazon while it's under twenty quid, it's well worth it.
Here's a pic of Aaron and Gareth. Dunno who the biatch behind them is, no idea...

Edit: Gareth has posted some new photos on the ALien Encounters page, here:

And here's mine and ADCs, my expression isn't quite as horrid in this one:

It was a fun day. The panel was great, despite the cost and managed to get signed, cheap(ish) copies of the Alien Vault book. Plus, it's just so fun to meet up with Alien fans. We musta been sat in TGIs for well over an hour and a half just chatting.

Yup! I looked like I had just died and was about to fall over in that first one.

But despite how it looks, I had a great time yesterday!

Thanks for the video Gareth, I'll piece together what we shot on our little cameras and phones and hopefully the quality will be good enough to post here for people to hear what was talked about. Gimme a few days and I'll get it, erm, up

At least part of the interview with Millimeter magazine is printed in a book called 'Ridley Scott: Interviews' by Ridley Scott, Laurence F. Knapp, Andrea F. Kulas. For a preview of the interview, go here.
