Somewhere between my last glass of wine and this one I had an idea. I started the inconsistencies thread to show players, fans and the developer what went wrong, but now I'm asking for a bit more than that. I'm not the most avid gamer, and if A:CM hadn't been a part of the Aliens saga, and touted as cannon I doubt I would have touched it.
I'm asking for everything that went wrong. I know a great deal will be opinion, so I'd like to keep updating the first post with the consensus over this board. Anyone who feels there should be something added here, please speak up. Literally tell me it should be added. I'm not doing this to step on GB shoes, but I think we can make an example out of this game as to what developers should avoid when making a game of this nature.I'm not asking for reviews, but specific incidents that can be recorded. Pretend we're going to send this to gearbox in a neutral tone, putting a spotlight on the things that just didn't work. Please be specific, and ask if anyone feels the same.
Campaign:
1) Touted as cannon - The game does not fit the cannon, based on factual information from the game, it does not supply a reasonable explanation on Hicks' survival.
2) Authenticity - This game, though marketed as a sequel, differs from many aesthetics one would predict, such as the size of the Sulaco's hanger (see Inconsistencies thread for more information on this).
3) The vast majority of the game was spent fighting Wey-Yu Soldiers. there are only 3 chapters in the campaign which you fight specifically Aliens. It almost isn't an aliens game, but a very wild side story.
Multiplayer:
I'll let others decide here, not much of an MP person myself.
Marketing:
1) Pre-game release information does not represent final game. We have heard many state that this is practicaly last generation, heavy with the pixels and low on the A.I. I.Q.
2) Again, as mentioned in the Campaign section - major inconsistencies with Cameron's 1986 film. This was a major marketing point and for people such as myself, it was a sinful let down.
Other/Accessory to:
Anything that doesn't fit above.
