The game will probably explained why they can't go to the derelict.

DAMNIT BOY!

Still smells of stinky retcon.

Only problem is Gediman laments the derelict getting blowed up, and why exactly would USM waste so many years and dollars on ripley when they can get a f**kload of eggs from the derelict.

As others have guessed, it might get blown up in game thus they would be adding to the official canon (like SW: Force Unleashed) which would tie in directly with A:R. It could explain why they resorted to cloning.
Also how would you explain Ripley getting facehugged at the beggining of Alien3 if the Queen didn't leave anything behind? (which isn't shown in the film but is assumed canon).

The Sulaco left orbit ala Alien3, remember?

Maybe they went back to the planet after discovering one of the dropships missing, hoping someone other then Ripley had survived. Its not like W-Y tell the marines anything as the story we do have already proves.

And I hope GB do try and please the hardcore fans by not making everything silly and out of character. Everyone pretty much knows the Alien story. Wouldn't hurt if they try and stick with it.

Btw, what do you guys think of this: http://www.gamesradar.com/f/the-force-is-overrated-fact/a-2008060410448887070?%3FEMC-DR6827846776 I know half of its stupid, but it is funny

Vemados

LV-426 is one of Acheron's moons.

Kimarhi

They are the same place.  Acheron is just what the Alien script called it.  LV426 is its "official" name.

@ Xhan, no doubt.

Private Hudson

Unrelated question, but what planet was LV: 426 orbiting?

Zeta Reticuli IV

Blitzx: Only problem with that is Gediman laments the derelict being destroyed by the AP station, which would effectively allow all sorts of slanting ideas if accepted as being retconned in, same as AvP/AvPr.

It already did get blown up in a game.

The egg on the Sulaco.

Really!? Which game? (not trying to be funny here, i'm serious) So they altered canon in a game already and has been accepted by everyone to be what really happened?

The egg on the Sulaco.

I was being sarcastic so it was a rhetorical question. "so we can come up with another assumption as to why the derelict is still intact" -  ??? Okay I've lost it I have no idea what my original argument was. I'll leave it at that :P (or just forget that sentence even exists, I don't remember why I put that down).

chupacabras acheronsis

it's destroyed in alien trilogy, but that game isn't strictly cannon

Private Hudson

I could never beat Alien Trilogy.

SM

It's also destroyed in the first AvP game.

Games aren't canonical with other games and only vaguely fit in with the films.  IF the game is fun to play I don't care that it's not canonical.
