This is the game I've been waiting for since 1979.

I waiting for game like this form years. and I lost hope for real horror game with Alien after AVP and A:CM.
Now dreams come true.

Legs are sexy in my opinion. Just like "Aliens: Labirynth", one of the best graphic novel with xenomorphs.

Oh certainly, they'll be getting plenty of slack from me. Tiny details aside, this is the game I've been waiting for since 1979.

Thank you for the engaging discussion, SM:)

I'll no doubt be nitpicking all the mistakes with the locations when it comes out too.

Might cut them a bit of slack since CA genuinely seem much more interested in authenticity - while not actually creating a replica of a film (DLC aside) and not trumpeting from the rooftops their attention to detail (and subsequent failure) like GBX did.

QuoteThat said, it's interesting that others have referenced that very same footage of an underwear-clad Bolaji, with mockup alien head on, as evidence of how great the alien would look, in humanoid form.

I think the films bear out that this view is worthy of mockery.

I don't disagree with you, and I thank you for your response.

I don't know if I agree with those guys, but I'm sure you see what I'm saying. Accuracy(TM) doesn't seem to be something that can be called for by degrees. Or at least, if Party A wants X to be accurate, then they possibly shouldn't condemn Party B wanting Y to be accurate.

(again, I'm SO over the legs issue. But I think the argument of 'accuracy' is not necessarily of the a la carte variety).

Oh, I just thought of something else along these lines: Those spacesuits, in the lockers on page one. They're not the same spacesuits as stood in the lockers, and they're facing the camera, whereas the spacesuits in the Nostromo lockers faced diagonally outward (facing their doors). Should that be changed? It would be an easy fix!

I mock because CA explained a number of times that they explored the 'normal' legs, found tham lacking for what they wanted and made a decision to go with digitigrade legs.  And people still whine about it.

Are the legs ideal - maybe, maybe not.  But their explanation is perfectly valid.  The people who whine seem to forget that terrible test footage of Boliaji creeping down a mocked up corridor in a mocked up suit.  Or the fact that every director has explicitly avoided showing the suit full frame as much as possible.  Because it looks like a guy in a suit.  You can't hide that in a video game where the view is controlled by the player and not the director.

Thought has gone into the leg process - supported by how the films were made - and a decision arrived at.

It's not simply a matter of "Eh... Close enough" - if that is indeed the case with the Nostromo crew models.

Quote from: SM on Jul 12, 2014, 11:08:37 PMNot really.  Ripley's white button up shirt is missing and Dallas never wears a bomber jacket like that in the film, but it's not fair to judge a WIP.

Plus they've said it's not supposed to be rigorously faithful to the movies or a genuine take on what happened, it's just a bit of fun.

Bit of a cop out considerig the amount of trouble they've already gone to with the detail.

You say that, SM, but then you also mock people who are crying about the alien's legs. Now, I no longer care about the 'legs' issue (they said they tried the original legs, and it looked goofy), but considering the amount of respect you're awarded around here, maybe a personal manifesto about what is/is not important is in order?

Not trying to be a C U Next Tuesday, I just would like to hear your thoughts overall.  :)

You're quite right, he's wearing a completely different jacket. Talk about me not seeing the forest for the trees!

Or more likely just some PR to get those pre-orders rollin' in. At least they're not shouting AUTHENTICITY from the rooftops like GB did.

Heh, I (sort of) called it a month ago...

Quote from: St_Eddie on Jun 09, 2014, 09:58:15 PMTruth be told, I was secretly hoping for a game mode set aboard the Nostromo, where you'd play as Ripley during the climax of the first film; having to set the auto-destruct sequence and then making your way to the shuttle before the time runs out (whilst avoiding the alien), only to have a final encounter in the shuttle.  Never mind though, that was a long shot.

... I'm over the moon that my dream 'Alien' game is actually becoming a reality.

Getting the original cast back together in their iconic roles (well, sans John Hurt and Ian Holm) is beyond anything I could have ever dared to dream.  Bliss.

Keep in mind that those insignias (or lets say most of them) will look like blurry mess on the consoles, so they prefer not to include them instead of splattering some color mess on the models.

My only beef is that Yaphett Koto doesn't have that young-ish swag / impetuous in his voice anymore. His voice is good but you can tell it's an older man now.

Alien: Isolation will probably be my first Xbox One game once I get it at the beginning of October, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to pre-order it and I also know I'm going to trade this game in once I complete it (as X1 will take a massive toll on my savings and games for it over here are helluva expensive, plus I have a baby coming in 7 months) and thus I might miss this DLC stuff altogether which would be a shame...
