Seeing the official poster and knowing the trailer is imminent...definitely an exciting time to be fan of the Alien series and universe.

Great stuff - mysterious but nice and simple.

The tagline avoids any apostrophe ambiguity too!  ;)

Lovin' the child-bearing-hips astronaut, very 'ampule' like...

wouldn't mind bearing children with Noomi Rapace :)

Like the poster. Not so happy about it being a PG13 - if that is still to happen :(

Oh - and some of the fan made posters some you guys made are much better. But that would always be the case I suppose.

I really like it, looking at it closely it reminds me slightly of the Alien posters slightly, with the light coming from the torch...it reminds me of the green/yellow light coming from the eggs in the original poster.

Im do excited, this and the Dark Knight Rising poster in one week!

it's not monocromatic, it's acromatic. the Alien poster had some yellow and green to set some mood. this looks way too plain and lazy.

No I meant it in a good way. I mean, I'm not sure why I'm still looking for confirmation that this is an Alien film when it clearly is. But it's still interesting to see.

By the way you can see the dead "Jockey" in the Pic if you look closely. Also kind of looks like a big egg in the torch beam.

But I'm also worried because I see no IMAX in the poster.  Would FOX really miss out on putting this film on those screens?

Still doesn't say who the composer is. Also, is that the 'Bantam Books Chicken' in the lower left? Will there be a paperback? And if so...

Will Alan Dean Foster be writing it???  8)

There is no doubt in my mind anymore that this is an Alien movie.

All that's missing is credit to Dan O'Bannon & Ronald Shusett but that would've really given it away...

I think tmjhur expressed it best when he/she said 'F**K'. ;)

It's funny how after all the lead up and all of the leaks and everything we already know that seeing the credits in that movie credit font on an official movie poster makes it seem so much more real. The excitement factor just ramped up ten fold!

Guy Pearce has a very high billing, even over Logan Marshall-Green (confirmed to be Rapace's love interest in the film and a bloody awesome Dallas look-a-like with the long hair and beard), so it looks like Guy Pearce may actually be the Engineer!  :D

Good poster, subtle but effective it does the job , so speculation is Guy Pearce could be the engineer. Hopefully something will leak soon of what the jockey/engineer looks like. I think it's going to freak everyone out and be on alot of screen savers lol. Fox give us this damn trailer, they seem to be ignorant to the fact that trailer leak done them alot of credit it's kind indirect viral advertising to an extent lol, my favourite part was when you see the jockeys ship its so epic and empowering.

It's from IMDB. So i'll take it with a grain of salt ^^
Thing is that Pierce role has been very hush hush since the beginning.
There's even a rumor that say that the production team was not happy that his presence was leaked.
If he was just another member of the crew we would have i think already know his role by now or heard him say something about it.
If the Engineers are actually humanoids (and all proofs leads to that) it would not suprises me that Pierce would be the one.
The Engineer needs to be played by actor who can be charming, scary and with a particular phisique.
Pierce has that particular face that makes him more that just a pretty boy.
Ican't wait to see him play god with those puny humans ^^

Guy Pearce seems to have a bigger role than I suspected.  He has third billing on the poster right behind Fassbender.  Besides that, I wish we would get a poster that showcases something like the actual Prometheus spacecraft instead of a rehash of things we've already seen.

Guy Pearce is much better known that Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green, and has been in more films including some Hollywood 'blockbusters'. This could be the only reason for being billed there. For The Hurt Locker he got a 'and Guy Pearce' credit, but then got blown up in the first ten minutes of the film. He was there because his name does carry some weight to it in movie circles.

Yes, I understand that billing is figured out not only based on size of the role, but by prior credits as well. Same reason Keaton got 2nd billing on Batman.

Billing is often contractual.  Liv Tyler and Cate Blanchett got billed high up ni the LOTR credits because of their profile, despite having a fraction of the screentime of a bunch of other people.

Patience, young Skywalker...

You'll recall the initial one for 'Requiem' was something almost everyone loved - and look how that turned out. It also gave virtually everything away.

I, for one, would be more than happy for the leaked advert we've already seen to be the only thing released until we see the film.

Besides, this doesn't look like it's going to be an action film. There won't be much they can give to make you excited without revealing something best kept hidden.

Like the creature designs.

If you look at the credits, you will see "music by Marc Streitenfeld".

Excellent catch! Now we can get an idea for how one of the most critical components for the film's atmosphere will be... The music.

And if anyone doubts that, try imagining 'Back To The Future' or any number of other truly classic films with completely different music. You won't get nearly the same emotional impact.

Interesting observation, I have to say, but I somehow think that it will not be the case that the head opens up to reveal the platform where the chair will rise up. It is definitely nice to see that the Giger design of the original derelict interior is being used for all the stuff that belongs to the jockeys.

Nice, so it now has an official name  ;D

No, it's still the head, there is another Comic Con picture of it, taken from the behind, when you can see the back of the head. But what really bugs me, is the holes instead of eyes on its face. Maybe it was done so for some certain purpose?...

No sorry, I'm talking about that thing on the ground beside the dead creature, that Noomi and the other woman are inspecting in the official stills. Looking at it on this poster, behind the woman's left hand, I just think it's way too round to be a head.

We're in such dangerous territory now. There is so much expectation for Prometheus, so even if it's amazing, will we be able to gage it accurately?

Because of where technology is at the moment, there's not much we haven't seen....every kind of creature imaginable, every kind of space ship, landscape, etc.... What can Prometheus show us that we haven't seen? What can it tell us that we haven't guessed based off watching so many films between this release and since it's sister film A L I E N released 30+ years ago? Even the poster for Prometheus evokes other films, and yet, the poster for A L I E N is what inspired the likes of The Fly, Mimic, etc...

Ridley Scott has made a pretty bold move, and he's taking a huge risk...returning to a genre he helped to define while at the same time trying to craft a film for an audience that's seen everything, including a beloved series (Alien saga) go right down the toilet as fans have watched in frustrated disgust as what was once brilliant became complete mediocrity. That's a big mountain to climb. I raise my glass to Ridley Scott, may the film exceed my expectations.

When asked about HR Giger's involvement in the film, Sir Ridley replies:
"We had a good relationship with Giger for many years. We showed him the script for [Prometheus] and he liked it. He's going to work a bit for me with this movie and has been working on a major project that comes in the film."

this is from an interview a while back with Ridley when they began shooting in Iceland.

No. Like any artist, he can get a bit ahead of himself. If his designs for 'Alien 3' had made it intact to the big screen, it would have been an even more WTF production than it already was - especially from a biological perspective.

Every artist, Giger included, needs direction, not complete and total control.

Otherwise, you get the Geroge Lucas effect.

Yes he is very eccentric and needs to be used in the right way I think. Ridley talks about how he had to constantly pull Giger back to that one alien design that he wanted, even though Giger insisted that it needed to be re-designed. If he had been allowed to re-design it who knows, it might have been even scarier.

LatinoReview just tweeted me back telling me that the trailer for Prometheus seemed more like 2 minutes.

That can't be.  The trailer was classed as being only 1 minute long...

Maybe they've decided to release the other version?  The one where we saw a brief segment of it...

I don't think so. If trailer was 2 min long, we would see this changes on site. ;)

If you're being bombarded with imagery, one minute might well feel like two, it's a condensed version of why action films appear to go on too long. Perfect for trailers though.

We don't know how many trailers have been cut for promotional use. The initial teaser could easily around 2 minutes, with TV spot versions clocking in at a minute, etc... Just wild speculation of course ;)

The most beautiful part of it still is
Maybe its just a optical illiusion like the face on mars...
And you only can see that face from a certain point of view...
And its in fact just a weird formation of rocks...

Yep, if Giger wasnt direct by Ridley, the facehugger would look like a weird lobster:

Or even worst, the chestburster would be a crazy featherless chicken:

I still don't get why there is a human statue in a extra terrestrial environment, were humans created by them or something?

I wouldn't have minded that version of the chestburster, actually. Seeing a viciously mutated chicken carcass squealing like a pig while it's punching its way out of someone's chest cavity would be suitably disturbing. The facehugger redesign, however, was certainly an improvement.

We'll know more, eventually. The truth could be different.

All I know about the giant head is it suppose to be the pilot of someone's spaceship  8)

"people are going to be in for a shock when they sit down to watch Prometheus and there's an enormous semi-human head piloting a spaceship."

By the way, since February/11 we all read about this rumor:

I'm surprise we have a cardboard cut-out soon since I remember we remove our Avengers poster back in October because we thought it was too soon. I had people going up to me and asking "What the hell is this movie?". I was like "It's upcoming science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and it's takes place in same universe as Alien". They where like "Sounds cool. I will look up more about the movie when I get home".

Well Fox having cardboard cut-out and posters at movie theaters is a good sign so far. It's having more people know more about the film and more hype for the film!

The way that the eroded/melted eye socket and cheek is accentuated with the tag line is brilliant. I missed this subtlety in the first poster images.
