It is unclear what the Deacon is. The shape of it is similar to a mural in Prometheus

The Neomorph is a prototype Alien engineered and selected by David, starting from the black fluid pathogen

I mean your idea makes sense as any. What we know as Neomorph was originally supposed to be in Prometheus, then they ended up with the Deacon

Prometheus suffers from Ridley changing it from original story to a tie into the Alien Saga. Just as he was gonna have Engineers be the creators of the Xenomorph and instead he switched it to David.

The Deacon is intriguing. Its too bad Vikers died, I'd have read a book about her surviving on the life boat, battling the Deacon.
