Shane Salerno actually did come up with the idea of a Yautja ship crashing in Afghanistan and a Special Forces team fighting against them and the Xenos.

Of course, it didn't go ahead.
Glad it didn't go in general either. Predator, sure, but not Aliens as at that point why bother talking about how much of a planetary threat these guys are if US military handles them no problem. It would make the futuristic USCM look weak as hell. If THEY couldn't stand a chance, the 2010s military would be in a much worse position. Even if they barely made it out, issue still stands that by comparison, than the USCM would have half the difficulty than in the film portrays. It's power creeping in a way. If the USCM barely survive, than the current US SF would outright not survive.

Yeah I wouldn't want to see Aliens against modern Military units. In an Afghanistan setting especially, the open mountainous landscape and rugged terrain, it just wouldn't fit. Also, I think it wouldn't benefit the aliens. Artillery, helicopters, platoons and explosives in an open scape I don't think so. I think the Xenos in Aliens got the better of the CM in a lot of ways because of the setting, the close quarters, dark labyrinth with plenty of places to hide.

A predator against a SEAL team, in that setting - that could work.

I really wouldn't mind seeing one more Predator film with over the top machoism revolving around a SEAL team or special forces team like the original film. That whole 80s style, bodybuilding look really adds something to the original. And I always feel like Predator and macho men is a recipe made in heaven like how Alien and Ripley/a strong female lead go together so well.

Either way a Predator movie with good action will always be entertaining for me, even if it's not trying to be macho

Huntsman

Where the Predator wins. But they wouldn't have the balls to do that.

Wysps

It'd be hard to go that route without rewarding villainy and maleficence. That being said I'd be more than stoked to see a movie where the Predator actually wins, but the circumstances would need to make that win satisfying imo.

I would absolutely love this. What a different approach this could be, would leave the audience with a shock and awe type of reaction.

I mean every time we have seen Predator on film go against a human, he loses. At this point you'd think the Predators would get the hint.

Exactly. Even if just for variety give us something different. If the bad guy winning isn't horror I don't know what is.

Exactly, it's overdue.

Immortan Jonesy

Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal Night Feeder is the perfect prey for a Predator. ;D

I can see the vision. I can see Genndy do a splendid job on a Predator story.

RoguePred1987

Does anyone have any more of the Prey/Primal crossover fanart that was out there? I remember a poster someone made but I can't find it.

I think there's a pretty good chance that one or more of the shorts will feature the Predators winning. With a project like this, where the whole point is variety and with a shorter run time, you want to go for a punch. We also don't really know how DT is going to approach it beyond the different time periods. It's entirely possible the anime could focus on a single Predator across multiple periods, something I've been wanting to see for a long time.

I don't know anything about Genndy and I definitely don't mean to insult any fans at all but I will say after that clip attached, I'm not a fan of the art style for a Predator animation. Obviously my opinion but that's not what I would be hoping for or expecting.

Nightmare Asylum

I really need to watch Primal, don't know why I haven't yet. Really love the concept and the look of the animation.

BigDaddyJohn
