The problem with these changes is that the design is too far removed from the popular Stan Winston design.
I also think it's a rarely stupid idea to introduce a new species in Predators, as if Jungle Hunter and City Hunter weren't menacing enough. This idea has haunted us like a curse ever since.
The 300 years in Prey don't explain the different design, evolution takes place over thousands of years, rather millions of years. Trachtenberg simply uses the Predators thing here and that is uncreative.
