i was looking at his shoulder when it hit him and it looked like his backpack strap had snapped and his earring disappeared unless it was covered in blood,  i didnt get a good look after he fell though

It wasn't plasma though. There was a lot of blood, and he didn't seem to be in pain.

It was plasma it was a low powered blast to calibrate the accuracy for the full blast, getting hit by plasma no matter how much is going to induce pain and bood.... as shown when blaine is killed

I'm not sure how accurate these are, but according the scripts online they state that "SOMETHING grazes his shoulder, a gout of BLOOD erupting."  So who knows?  But he did appear to be in shock when he was turning around.

         Crouched in the undergrowth.  There is a movement in
         the brush before him.  He wipes the sweat from his
         eyes and clicks his safety on the Mini-gun to fire.

         The movement in the brush is GROWING LOUDER.  Blain's

         startling Blain.  He relaxes momentarily as he
         watches the animal scurrying from sight.  He

         ...from out of the jungle, 75 feet away, the Hunter's
         WEAPON streaks toward him like a missile.  He SCREAMS
         as it enters his back, erupting from his chest in an
         EXPLOSION of BLOOD.

But we see somehting hit im in the neck, so maybe they modified the script? Heres some possible answers:

Q: In Predator before Blain gets killed, what hits him in the neck? He hears something moving in the undergrowth and turns, but it's just a little animal coming out of the bushes. He smirks - then something hits him in the neck, spinning him around, and the plasma bolt hits him from behind. What was the neck thing?

A: There are many theories on this subject. Some say that just before the Pred takes out Blain, he blasts that critter (whatever it is) with the plasma caster - and the resulting 'splat' is what hits Blain. Others say that it's some of Hawkin's remains that the Pred throws at him - although exactly why the Pred would do that is a mystery to me.
But each of these theories is just that: a theory. Reading through the original script, it seems it was some form of Predator weaponry that hit Blain (like a speargun) that just grazes his neck, and I believe this is closest to the truth - that it was either a speargun or a light plasma bolt, like a 'warning shot' from the Pred, to give Blain a sporting chance at return fire. A very slight chance.

It stated the Predator did that to give Blaine a sporting chance to fire back.  I don't think the Predator wanted the mini-gun firing at him.  He would've been killed very fast.

Something hit him, causing blood to come out of his shoulder (couldn't have been the animal, or there would have been blood straight to the face). So, I htink its a weapon of some sort, followed by the plasma caster.

I was watching predator today and that first object looks like part of an internal organ of the first dude killed. I think it hits blaine so hard that it kind if stuns him

thats possible  but on the avp games it sounds exactly like the speargun, nd if it were plasma there would be a burn or a big hole, if it was a sprear tip it could enter an not be seen, which it cant be

But there is a blood splatter mark on Blaine's shoulder, it's not like it did zero damage.

Blaine is shot from behind, his eyes don't meet the Predators 
In any case I agree with you, in my mind is has always been a toned down plasma shot to calibrate the accuracy of the plasma cannon before hitting him with the full power blast.

There's no evidence of a spear gun in Predator 1, that was thought of in Predator 2, the speagun was not a prop in the script.
