Title: Movie Map Pack DLC
Post by: Predaker on Jun 05, 2013, 09:08:48 PM
The next DLC has been announced!

QuoteThe Movie Map Pack, an all-new add-on for Aliens: Colonial Marines, is headed to PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 next week.  The Movie Pack features two all-new Deathmatch /  Extermination maps, one new Survivor map, and an all new Escape map. All maps are based on locations from classic Alien movies: Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3.

- The two new Team Deathmatch and Extermination maps feature locations from Aliens & Alien 3 -  'Fury 161' takes place in the run-down prison facility as seen in Alien 3, while 'Processor' puts you in the heart of the Alien hive from the Atmospheric plant in Aliens.

- The new Survivor map, 'Nostromo', features marines defending themselves against Xenos inside the iconic spaceship from Alien.

-  The new Escape map, 'Exodus', is situated on the doomed Sulaco. Marines awaken from cryo-sleep and must navigate their way to escape pods whilst under Xeno attack.

The Movie Map Pack will be rolling out on all platforms beginning June 11th (June 12th for PlayStation 3 players in Europe) and will be available individually or as part of the Aliens: Colonial Marines Season Pass, a bundle that includes access to the previously released Bug Hunt add-on and the Reconnaissance Pack as well as an upcoming campaign add-on

Ok I really like this idea, but I doubt I will ever find a game on these maps as NO ONE has any of the new DLC aside from bug hunt

Thanks Corporal Hicks!

Even though this is only another map pack, I am excited. These are the kinds of maps many fans were asking for. Survivor mode on the Nostromo has some interesting possibilities for private matches. Imagine playing with 2 marines vs 1 lurker and one marine has to use a pistol while the other only uses a motion tracker, or maybe 1vs1 with only a flamethrower.  :D Customize your marine with no helmet or shoulder pads for added realism.

I'm really looking forward to using the movie skins on the Processor map, as well. Next week should be fun!

Finally, another Escape mode map. I would definitely give it another go because of that alone. But the movie themes is a plus.

In response to the bad mouthing this game has received its understandable; however the devs have owned up and made some seriously needed changes and tweaks to make AL(l)ENS worth playing!

<<<I HAVE MORE VIDS AND WILL UPDATE SOON>>>

MP on PC/STEAM version is not dead for me. I have added over 20 players from all over the globe I can have a game anytime I want...The servers are not flooded but I can log on now via my mobile and count random. I see 3 players online and that may be in different rooms. But if I was home I would be playing it with the ALIEN ALIENS and ALIEN resurrection/Alien Trilogy ost adding theme. XD

Also I have season pass + all addons overall I spent a pretty penny on this game and I have over 340 hours in game time (campaign sp playtime subtracted)....no refund needed...STEAM really saved this game for me because its so easy to add other players and see when they are online. add me on steam

On a side not: does the PC version run smoothly on a low-grade PC?

at this point in time I'm really glad I didn't buy the season pass,I mean just adding maps works for games with heavy amounts of players but it takes me about 5-10 minutes to find matches now, like the idea behind it but the multiplayer is gonna be dead soon and unless it comes out for a very low price I don't see the point of buyimg it

Fury 161 level?

Wonder if it'll have a section where you can lure another team into and get them squashed in the lead mould thing.

Some 'Mass Effect 3' multi-player levels have something like that.

I'm hoping the Hive map from Aliens has two Smart Guns. One near the exit of the hive and one near the APC (which everyone knows will be there). One should be a regular Smart Gun and the other should be "Vasquez's" Smart Gun from campaign.
If you do anything right gearbox just throw as much references to the best scene in the movie as possible.

Yes all these maps are just dividing the low community. If anybody has the season pass on PS3 add me. My name is exactly the same as on here. Until the maps are released, I wont actively hunt down any other members who have the pass. But hopefully some of you add me  :)

This map map sounds pretty great, I'm really surprised that they included content explicitly from 'Alien' and 'Alien3' instead of just rehashing more 'Aliens' stuff.

Also if this is the third of 4 DLC packs, that means the next one has to be the campaign content, right?

Supposedly.
Forget campaign though, I'd rather have more bug hunt maps. Especially one set inside the hive from Aliens

Worthless since there's already no one to play the base game with online.

I guess this means the fourth pack will be the single player missions.

The one slightly redeeming factor of the game.  I can't help but think they'd have sold more DLC if they would have made Bug Hunt part of the game and sold at least 1 BH map in each DLC pack.

Idea for a fun way to play the new maps:

1. Nostromo (survivor)
2. Processor (extermination)
3. Exodus (escape)
4. Fury 161 (team deathmatch)

Season Passer here... will get the new pack A.S.A.I.A.

BTW... I still can't understand how some people here keep saying nobody plays this online anymore. I still find people doing online MP matches (in the PS3 at least ...).  ::)

TDM is loaded with a healthy dose of players, but survivor, escape and extermination are at an all time low on the 360.

This sort of thing (along with bughunt) should have been in the base game. Not released six months after 90%+ of the games online population dropped the game.

I have to say that these are my favorite maps in the game, fury 161 is a ton of fun, and the dead prisoners everywhere is a nice touch, but processor is my absolute favorite, it has the best looking hive map in any Aliens game to date, it also has the most atmosphere of any part of the game. Nostromo is okay, I just find it too small, I haven't tried the new escape map yet though.

The creation of new in-game assets for this map - the prisoners, hand torches, candles, world textures etc - give me hope that the final DLC may be a single-player campaign exploring events of Fury 161 either before the events of the main game, or after.
