I was reading through my "Watching the Watchmen" book and Dave mentions that he did a run on Aliens,i'm wondering if anyone here has read the series, and can say if its worth getting or not.

Have to say, this was a nice little story.

Good to see a step away from the "evil corp trying to control Aliens" story for once.

And great art from Mignola as always.

Ive not read Sacrifice fully yet, the Art in that isnt to bad.

I was very eager to finally read Salvation after hearing so much good stuff about it. I always liked Mignola too, but while I enjoyed the story I dont think its anything exceptional and dont really see what he all the hoopla was all about

Sacrifice on the other hand is one of the best Aliens comics Ive read. It was also the first Aliens comic featuring just one Alien as a villain. Phenomenal artwork and great, moody and dark story with nice atmosphere and a tidy too dark ending (no pun intended)

Salvation and Sacrifice are two of the best comics, possibly because they're one-shots, but often get overlooked - possibly 'cos they're one-shots.

StrangeShape

Both have a religious theme, but Salvation for me was just one of those good but not exceptional stories. Sacrifice was special in every way

I thought it was all right.  Not the best, but all right.

Aye...when I first encountered Sacrifice as a kid, I didn't like it. When I gave it another go as a mature reader...I was blown away.

Simple, powerful themes embodying the darkness (no pun intended) of the Aliens universe. Superb.

I took my copy of Aliens: Salvation to get signed by Gibbons at a convention and when he saw it,  he was surprised at seeing it and said that he & Mike Mignola thought they were going to make millions off of that one.   Nice friendly comic creator...he was cool and signed a ton of books for me.
