Alien: Romulus artist Santiago Vecino, who’s Offspring concept art we’ve previously shared, has uploaded a number of storyboards that depict the scene in which the crew of the Corbelan discover the genetics lab and find a female version of Rook’s bisected remains.

Some frames from the Alien Romulus storyboard, part of a scene where they are going to the lab. I did it in October 2022, when the script was still a bit different. The cast was not yet defined and the idea of Rook being Ian Holm did not exist either.

Santiago Vecino has also uploaded storyboards depicting the scene in which Bjorn is killed following his encounter with Scorched’s cocoon.

In December 2023, Fede Alvarez asked me to storyboard Bjorn’s death scene. It was part of some scenes that had to be reshot in Budapest at Origo Studios.

Kane's other son

I remember news items about offering Rook to Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Agoddamnpercentage

Waller-Bridge would have stormed it. Get her in next time Fede!

XenoVC

Kinda feels like the soured run of Dial of Destiny had them pull back from Phoebe being in the movie? Not like Rook was advertised either way. She would've cleared the final product.

Kane's other son

My guess is she ultimately passed since Rook is little more than an exposition machine.

Those are some pretty boards.

Female Rook would have been better me thinks. But I'm ok with what we got.

Dying to know more about this different script. How different would it have been.

Shame, personally I would've preferred a new android model. I felt there were enough homages within the film anyway. To go down that familiar path was unexpected. I'm indifferent whether the presence of Holm's Ash model makes the Alien universe smaller or potentially expands it.

Regarding the storyboards illustration surrounding the death of Bjorn's death. I absolutely loved the execution of the Aliens cocoon. Beautifully grotesque. Just a shame I didn't care much for Bjorn, which I guess you could argue was the intention due to the characters attitude throughout the early stages of the film.

Bjorn with beard would have improved vastly

Acid for Blood

Now this is what the prequel comic should have looked like!

For me it's not really a question of scope in this case, but of the execution. Anything that has a higher chance of pulling the audience out of the experience should hit the road.

Respect Bjorn. He's cool...
There's something in the Fookin Water
And the Edger Haircut.
Bjorn is a fookin Legend 📡

Mr.M

Can someone send this to Marvel? I mean, a black and white edition of the prequel would have been cool done like that of the old Dark Horse Aliens Earth War, airbrushed, black and white.
