Awesome shazam! This is great!👍
The new one's I put in
bold. I'll search for cover images and dates for them, then add them to the list. :)
Updated. :)
It's been cancelled.
One of the Predator #1 variant will be this David Finch art:

Now we have to wait until November, and there's a good chance all the shops will be shut for months then where I live. Great job there, Marvel. You da man. >:( >:( >:( >:(
It is frustrating... :-\

Thanks shazam. Added. Now we wait and see if any/all/none of these variant covers are used in the November launch.
All this work for nada. :(
It sounds like InHyuk Lee is starting to get to work on his Predator variant covers.

I reckon the delay is because of the Thomas brothers trying to reclaim the rights to the franchise.

What I'm thinking at least:
Quote from: Voodoo Magic on Apr 16, 2021, 04:16:35 PM
in this kind of copyright battle, I believe a regular course of action is for the big company to rush something into production so it's harder for a judge to stop it, compared to putting a freeze on any future projects.
I still think that delay is the Penguin deal. Because otherwise, by that logic, they would have delayed pre-production on Skulls until November too (or later). And who says any of these legal issues will be resolved that specific November month to tell comic retailers November for Predator anyway? The more profitable Penguin deal starts October - and that's the month the other title Predator variant covers would come out, then November is the ongoing Predator title #1 premiere. I think the smart money is still on that causality. :)
So.....Predator going back to DH?

So.....Predator going back to DH?
If the Thomas Brothers doesn't settle with Disney, wins their court case against Disney, subsequently wins the probable appeal, it definitely could happen. But we're likely talking years for that process to complete, a waiting period I'd rather not commit to. :-\
I don't know who the Thomas brothers are, but if they wrest the Predator IP away from Disney will that finally stick a fork in any future crossovers with Alien?
You don't like AvP ?
Not really.
ok

Hmm. Makes one wonder if the comics could be put on hold for that long.

If a judge issues a preliminary injunction until the suits are resolved, it definitely can be I think. :-\
Any updates on what's going on?
Nothing new. I wouldn't expect to hear anything for another few months either.
The only thing we've been able to confirm is there are no changes to the creative team. Other than that, retailers were told to expect a release in November with other title Predator variant covers in October. So I assume a new launch announcement will hit by August.
And Retailer pre-orders will be going through Penguin this time around versus Diamond (unless they want to purchase it wholesale through Diamond) so I think it's possible both will be tied together with some sort of big announcement fanfare.
And then there's that big shadow, the gavel which looms over everything... :-\
Is it more likely to do with the current legal battle going on?

Is it more likely to do with the current legal battle going on?
Anything is possible I think? But from only the details we know, it seems to me more taking advantage of the new lucrative distribution deal Marvel struck with Penguin which begins in October (a deal struck after their Alien comic hit shelves).
I mean if the delay was solely lawsuit motivated, why not shelve indefinitely? Why tell retailers October/November. With a
pre-trial Case Management Conference set for July 15th, I don't see there being any way that an actual trial can conclude to give Marvel enough time to meet that time frame especially, when you factor in production and shipping times.
Just saw that the Predator Omnibus has been rescheduled for March 2022:

Oof. What is going on with that one?
I can't see the lawsuit affecting the Omnibus here. It's a reprint, not new content, which means they should be able to exploit it in perpetuity.
This is how the law seems to read.
Also even if it did affect it, only in the US. They could still try to sell it in overseas markets.
Can Dark Horse get the license back already?? This is just ridiculous.

Would that have any effect on the rights to create new content?
Maybe?

Awesome find Shazam! Thanks for posting it - OP has been updated.
Nice artwork too! 👏
Basic question...
Were the variant covers in the OP just fanciful covers for these non-Predator Marvel Comics (like cross-promotion, not actual crossover)...or were they actually planning to have a predator or two make guest-appearances in the Marvel superhero universe?
Not too crazy about the latter idea
Just variant covers to celebrate the acquisition.

I've been curious. Why is it with novels and comics covers, they use pre-existing Predators? Why is it always Jungle Hunter, City Hunter, or Wolf or Scar. Why don't artists make new Predator designs?
Historically they have. There's a huge variety of Predator designs on covers over the years.
Modern covers are getting lazier with designs -- the Alien covers are awful -- but it's a fairly recent trend.
I swear to God, EVERY cover IS Jungle Hunter now. The best thing Predator 2 introduced is that, no, they're not all look the same. Can't you show a bit of creativity, goddammmit ? To be fair though I can see higher-ups poking artists with a stick whispeing into their ears: "Draw that thing people like"
I feel the Jungle Hunter design has just become the default "basic Predator" look. And to be fair, that's sort of how it's treated in the movies -- even P2 showed quite a few Predators with that armour or mask in different combinations. So it's not even being ordered to draw a specific Predator, so much as internalising that look as visual shorthand for one.

The worst offender I've discvered is Predator: Forever Midnight. The cover is just a picture of the McFarlane Toys Celtic Predator.
Well it's official.
Predator has gone to the kids.
Nice. Any news about the Predator "earlier script" comics adaptation please? :(
For the influence Predator 2 had or even the AVP films you'd think we'd see less Jungle Hunter.
