Why does the Alien look so glossy?

Production still probably from a rehearsal rather then film footage (angles all wrong anyway).  There's no water dripping off it.

There is some water dripping. Look beneath its arm on the right side and its hand on the left. But ya, I'd wager it's a production still as well.
