Title: 3D positional audio (HRTF) in Aliens Versus Predator 2 for better immersion?

3D positional audio (HRTF) is a bit like VR, but for sound, and all you need is headphones. HRTF can be enabled in many older games, for instance, in Quake 4:

Thanks to this sound tech you can "actually "see" enemies in pitch-black darkness just because you can hear exactly where they are in relation to you".

Does anyone know if there is some way to enable 3D audio in the PC or the Mac version of AVP2? The changelog for patch 1.0.9.6 mentions 3D audio: "Made taunts play as 3D sounds which diminish with distance". Or maybe someone here is already working on a 3D audio mod?

You all know how great the atmosphere in AVP2 is, and HRTF could potentially be a killer feature for this game...

I investigated this a bit. Like other Monolith games, AVP2 uses Miles Sound System. MSS supported all sorts of 3D audio tech and Monolith used it to support 3D audio in some of their older games like Blood 2. Unfortunately with AVP2 they appear to only support plain stereo output.
