Interesting that Kate Dickie (Ford) is being 3D-scanned.
Her character must become victim to some unspeakable CGI death.  :P

(//)Yeah i really hope we get these in HD.

I know this may be stretching a bit but ive been "solving" the dead arg and one thing we've found is that in different trailers theres an added frame which is blue tinted and looks like a dying video feed.
Spoiler
most images are too blurry but one image from an early trailer is clearly a body laying on a "sand dune". In the shaw video above there is an added frame as well and its new. Same "sand dune" different spot. PLEASE HD VERSION :o Any thoughts?

strong evidence in first video that Twitter girl is all BS or she just never bothered to watch it properly

Spoiler
"She claimed that whole hologram sequence was told to David via a SJ but there is no alive SJ present anyway in the shot. It just looks as if David accidentlly activated the hologram sequence himself.

I almost died when I heard Shaws voice double
Cvalda is going to have a field day when listening to LMGs voice in these clips

Naughty David...  :D

But yeah, some nice new shots - the engineer holograms start playing right after David activetes the map and you can even see one crouching down next to a cryotube. The hologram with David and the running jockeys happen somewhere else though - we've seen Shaw and Holloway watching them pass by as well.

Shaw is facing what looks like a big white airlock door with dat axe.

i havent seen such a beautifully designed and shot scifi movie since years.

That Merc looks like a tough SOB!!!!
The encounter goes as i was thinking.

So Holloway also goes thru the Yutani-QuietEye?

And I am beginning to believe that the wierd graphics in the top right frame are representing musical notes,
they also pop up all over the "career training" videos.

PROMETHEUSSSSS.

  Just awesome.  Every day, a fix.  I'm going to be spending some cash at the cinema this June, I can feel it.

I'm well behind the times here, but I was just curious who the woman is in the first featurette @ 1:36?  I think she's just a red shirt crewmember and they're talking about filming the movie in 3D, but I was just curious.

And the merc... how come all movie badasses have to have dat shotgun?  oh man, it's too much already.

I think you're referring to Kate Dickie (from the great Red Road) as Ford.  One of the team of scientists - I think her specialization may have been mentioned somewhere, but I can't recall it.

She hasn't gotten enough attn in the promotion for me.

Anybody seen this jockey get hit by some big steam junk.

That's Shaw, just when the ground opens up to reveal the Juggernaut. I'm guessing it's a release of air/pressure.

Biomechanical, I trust you are being sarcastic.  Obviously, I never said it was medicine.  I said it looked similar to (LIKE) our medical ampules, which can obviously contain not only beneficial "medicine", but all sorts of nasty biological and/or biochemical stuff.

Classic case of not being able to separate a character from an actor. Like Lena Headey was talking about in an interview of how fans of GoT come up to her and randomly call her a bitch or say they don't like her. People, man.

Y'all just can't handle LGM. There is a fine line between being bold and stupid. Action heroes risk their lives all the time - and maybe one can say they are stupid - but they get the job done.
Is he not the one go back and save Noomi from the storm? No LGM - no Shaw. And can you blame him for being super ambitious, capable, and incredible hot? No - so hands off ppl. Give LGM the respect he deserves.

It has nothing to do with his acting - it's because y'all have a crush on the Fassbender, while you all hate how cocky LGM is, and y'all hate how well he knows how hot he is. I mean I am sure they both can get plenty of leg - but Fassbender is a little more modest about it.

I mean - do you think RScott made a bad choice with him? He has a stellar cast around him Theron, Fassbender, Rapace, Elba, etc. So would he really match all that with someone who can't compare?

Fun fact: I've seen Fassbender in person. Twice. And he knows how hot he is--he's one of those guys. But that doesn't bleed over into my opinion of him as an actor.

Oh, really?  :-\ That sucks.

I honestly have forgotten who LMG even was, and or is. SO I'll be going into this with a clean slate.

Although the his being forgettable speaks volumes to me.

BAD volumes.

Oh, and Fassbender.

Maybe it's the reverse; Scott cast LMG because he looks like a douche-bag... for realism, you know?

Unfortunately that means we have a primary character who is like nails on a chalkboard insufferable for half the runtime, intentional or not.

A major character being really annoying in every thing seen of him so far is hardly seeking out a tiny detail--and there are many other members here who feel the same.

And I haven't hated anything involving this film, other than that. Don't misrepresent. ;)

It's the details of the character. It seems like it can never be decided on whether the problem is Logan Marshall-Green's acting, or the character in general (how he's written to be). I swear, one of the biggest sources of speculation here is whether the character is supposed to be how LMG plays him, when it's really quite obvious it is. People get their undies in a knot over LMG instead of the character, like if another actor was chosen, the character would be different... when really, we know the lines, and he's delivering them just as they should be.

If you don't like the character, so be it, there're characters in movies and TV shows we don't like all the time, but the over reactions around here are so incredibly strong that it's capable of derailing topics in a single post. Notice how that all branched out from the detail of who the character actually is meant to be? The bitching is more annoying than the character ever will be.

I mean - do you think RScott made a bad choice with him?
Probably.

So...he's a jackass? Fassbinder I mean, regardless of the man's personality he is a phenomenal actor.

That said I don't particularly get all the hullabaloo over Holloway/LMG, I can't say I like him but I can't say I hate him either in fact I keep forgetting he's even in the movie to an extent. For the record Cvalda, my Mother(who wants to see the film based upon my ranting and raving about Alien and the fact she is vaguely familiar with the franchise as a whole) agrees that Holloway seems like a bit...asinine, but not quite her words(Hint: She called him something phallic).

I will say the whole "I want to crush man made religion" line is kind of....wow douche of the year worthy, sadly I've known too many people that act or think in that way and I can say that I won't particularly like his character if he continues to carry on with that kind of attitude.

Which begs the question, in terms of character...how in the HELL could someone like Shaw(who sounds extremely religious) even think about dating/marrying/screwing someone that says such incredibly stupid things as "I WANT TO CRUSH  ALL OF MAN MADE RELIGION". I know in a lot of cases opposites attract(not for me, tried that once), but most religious people I've known don't take to kindly to having their religion trashed about in such a manner. I am not particularly religious(I do believe in God) but I do not like when someone tries to assert their view and their opinion on someone.

The whole anti-LMG thing is totally overplayed. I know he won't be winning any Academy Awards in the near future - but to claim that his acting is bad or hammy is just a far cry from the truth.

I know that the judgement of acting is subjective - there are limits to what one can argue. So when someone says the LMG is a bad actor or hammy or fake or what have you - I can't help but think they are holding something on the side against him.

That and I don't think that such an important player in the story would be depicted by someone who Scott judged to be insufficient or incapable of fulfilling the role.

Admittedly I've had very few relationships, and the relationships I did have were not all that positive(infidelity, dishonesty, etc) and it's true I've witnessed the paradigm you speak of in many past female friends and girlfriends detestable choice in men. Being the "nice guy" is apparently not what most women want decide saying otherwise, but I suppose that is in of itself a bit of a generalization.

Herm. Fassbender's smokin' hot, and none of us are complaining about his acting.

Honestly, I don't find Fassbender that attractive.  He's got a certain charm to him and he has a decent body but his face isn't all that (in my opinion).  Logan Marshall Green is a little more attractive, I'll admit.  He reminds me of Tom Hardy who I like but he's still not one of my favourites.

But when it comes down to acting, looks don't count for anything.  It doesn't matter if you're supermodel material or need to put a paperbag on your head - if you can't act, looks won't mask anything or sway my judgement.  Charlize Theron is beautiful and she's one of the strongest actresses of her generation.  She is a chameleon and even if she's acted in some mediocre films, she invests in her characters 110%.

So attractiveness and acting don't go hand in hand - not for me, anyway.

I don't question Ridley Scott's talent but nobody is perfect and people can make bad judgement.  Ridley might have seen something in Logan Marshall Green he liked but ultimately it might have been a choice that was the weakest link in the casting.  I have nothing personal against him.  I liked him in Devil but I don't think he's on the level of Fassbender, Rapace and Theron.

Maybe at one point in the film I'll change my mind on his acting and character.  Stranger things have happened.

At the end of the day, different strokes for different folks.

Wow, that went sideways.

Again, really, for me, I've seen Marshall-Green in other television and film and this role is quite a departure.  He's a solid performer, I see no problem with him.  I frankly think part of the overblown response to the guy is the character, who is clearly brash, reckless and IMO condescending towards Shaw and certainly David, and that's who he is meant to be.  And yeah, I roll my eyes at some of Holloway's foolish attitude like anyone else.  But part of the reaction is, I feel, a knee-jerk response to the presence of a young, handsome man who ticks demographic boxes, which, I think, is seen by some as supposedly anathema in an Alien film.

I personally don't see it that way.  Both Michael Biehn and Tom Skerritt were reasonably popular and attractive young, up and coming leading men when they played Hicks and Dallas, but it was not the form and function of their character.  Neither is it so with Marshall-Green as Holloway.  I think times have changed, looks have changed, style and film certainly, but I don't think that's what LMG's casting as Holloway was about.  I suspect his stage work was seen and that's what got him the gig, because he's awfully good.  I don't think it's a case of "how dare they cast a hunk in an Alien movie as a shameless attempt to curry the female demographic with this pretty boy" - I never remotely thought it was that.

Marshall-Green is playing what appears to be an arrogant, supremely self-assured egotist of a scientist.  Everything about his performance and appearance - right down to the ascot, no doubt - is calculated to generate that.  I'm sure Holloway is not a truly awful human being, but he leads with the arrogance.  I personally find his and Shaw's relationship fascinating to ponder, because as I've said before, he seems to lead the charge, even as he's simultaneously putting her and her passion down ("I want to crush all man-made religions" - why?).  I don't know why they're together, how they've related given his ego and her apparent demure shyness, and I want to.  I can believe he loves her, but their dynamic seems thorny and imperfect - and interesting.

I have no further opinions on any of the other actors or their personal lives, except to say that Michael Fassbender may in fact be the finest leading man of our times and casting him was genius.

the hilighted part of your post is complete and utter patronising bullshit !! (to put it politely)

the handsomeness/hunkiness/swoonworthiness or whatever you want to call it, of a character or actor, has absolutely NOTHING at all to do with how happy or otherwise I am with his inclusion in a movie like this

but it does have everything to do with how well and how convincingly he delivers his lines, how convincingly he plays a role, and how transparent he is in doing so

LMG looks like he's trying to act a part, and he sounds like he's reading his lines off a cue card for the first time - amateurish in the extreme

Its really the first time in a long time that a performance (or at least what weve seen of it so far) has stood out so much from the rest, simply from viewing the trailers, for being so glaringly bad

He sticks out like a sore thumb amongst that ensemble cast of talent, and it has absolutely zippo to do with his looks

Cast a breathtakingly beautiful male model type in the role and if his acting is seamless and you totally 'buy' him as that character, purely because his performance is so good, so natural, and so believable.........it certainly wont matter one jot to me how gorgeous he is........and you definitely wont hear any complaints from me - for me its all about the acting and LMG just doesnt cut it here

I would agree in part that LMG almost seems as if he put on his best acting skills resulting in a performance that appears almost exhuberant and plastic..which is odd because his work in Devil was amazing. I'll reserve final judgement after viewing the entire film. I want to think the best of him for now :)

Michael Fassbender's performance so far in the clips and featurettes we have seen shows how an attractive actor, can just absolutely nail their part.  I think some of the problem with the dialogue is way the footage we have seen has been cut, I think seeing longer line delivery may change some opinions.

I'm just hoping the line from Noomi about it being an ivitation doesn't make me think of Gandalf's line from Lord of the Rings, when he tells Bilbo he's trying to protect him after getting angry.  That line delivery just came out weird, I catch it everytime I see the movie.

What's odd about the 'invitation' line is that Noomi looks so different...like it was a last minute reshoot...her cheeks look botoxed to hell and her hair is weird. In terms of continuity, she looks weird.

Maybe they're not long out of hypersleep - doesn't her character reportedly spend time throwing up after she's woken up.  I have to say, I look less than fabe when I've been chucking up first thing of a morning.

I thought the invitation line is given on earth before they ever leave, when they are seated in the hanger looking room and LMG is playing with the holograms from the different civilizations.

I would argue that only Weyland and Vickers know the true mission objective, however, even if Holloway and Shaw are the true scientists... all the others would need to be briefed as to what they planned upon arrival.  If you have ever tried to convey information to people to prepare them for something, you normally do it before you get to wherever you are going.  You don't want to have to constantly correct people about what they need to be doing.

Both Charlize and Shark Teeth have said that the movie starts with them already in space. The rest of the crew probably vaguely knew the details of where they were going and why.

Thanks for posting that. I think it is very honest.

And, to be quite honest, his character appears to be very willing to sacrifice himself for the safety of others based on that storm clip in the 3-in-1 clip.  I know it's Shaw he's trying to help out but I think his character's douchiness might decrease as the film plays out.  And I've met people like him in real life.  The sad reality is that there are people like Holloway who need something to happen in order to get put in their place.
