Title: Cailee Spaeny Interview
Post by: PortugueseXeno on Mar 24, 2024, 02:48:07 PM
https://www.gamesradar.com/alien-romulus-cailee-spaeny-proper-horror-sigourney-weaver-ripley/

"We used practical effects. We had the same people who worked on Aliens. They came back. They were there making the xenomorph. This is a creature that they have so much love for. We had puppeteers working on the face-hugger. So to see that – it all felt so alive,"

"I had to turn off my 'nerding out' brain, because I was just like, 'Wow, it's beautiful. Ooh, you put the Giger skull...' I had to turn that off. But it was properly scary. We set it between the first movie and the second. We were talking about, 'How could this be a child of the two?' So we have those heightened moments, but then proper horror."

"I definitely did everything that I could to bring that character to life. Watching Sigourney play that role – she's part of the changing of the game that those films did," Spaeny continues. "I could never be her. But I injected whatever I have in me into that character, and tried to make it three-dimensional – as three-dimensional as possible. So I hope that that's there, and it comes alive."

I am thoroughly excited for Romulus to say the least. Definitely more excited than I have been for an Alien film in a very long time.

I'm just glad to be away from Ridley's newer take on the Universe setting. With all Promethous/Covenant.

Best Alien design and my favourite one. For the ones that doesn't like the skull, I'm sorry, but the skull it's really cool and gives an more terrifying aspect to the Alien. The skull it's back

I love the down to earth, eager yet humble attitude I'm getting from her and Fede.

Team Love the Skull here.

Though I have to say it works best when you can barely see it. It needs to work on an almost subconscious level. Was that a skull I just saw?

True, i don't need to see a fully exposed skull (unless Fede finds a way to shot/direct it while looking visually menacing and not just silly), but to know that it's there, with its empty eye sockets and that if we are careful enough, we may catch a glimpse of it.

That is what i want.

I've read the magazine and there isn't any more info than what has been posted. In fact the Sigourney comments weren't in the mag.

Anyone else think the xenomorph at the end of the trailer is slightly different on its dome? There is like a little slit on the left and something about the internal skull eye socket gives me the vibe that there might be something different about the skull too.....hoping we get a surprise.

I feel subtleskull should kinda be implied. I mean, I don't know anyone who wants to go fullskull.

And they are both different to the *spoiler thing? ( Well the same technically, but basically you are saying there's more *spoiler things than just the individual *spoiler thing)

So many things , I like it.

Why do I suspect that the "new mutant big bad" is just going to be a Cameron alien in keeping with the mashup of aesthetics from both of the first two movies?

I've also had this thought about this "sandwich" movie and also with the queen.

Whatever way you flip it though the Extended edition of Aliens shuts it down.
