What have we seen so far?
Alien: introduced egg, facehugger, xeno.
Aliens: introduced "the hive" and the Queen.
Alien 3: introduced the idea of variants (dog-xeno).
Resurrection: introduced the idea of mixed DNA via cloning, leading to "the newborn."
AVP: nothing new this time, except Predators can fight xenos like you or me fighting a wild animal.
AVP-R: introduced the Predalien (as a queen).
Prometheus: remember that guy in the chair in Alien? Let's make a whole movie about that! Too much to list, and the movie is awesome because of that.
Covenant: David is revealed to have either "created" or "re-created" the xenos. I like the idea that he was trying to "re-create" the xeno as opposed to being the actual origin.

Haven't seen Romulus yet.

What can "Alien Earth" do that hasn't already been done?
I want to see something new, radically new. Imagine a human on the side of the xenos, or a xeno on the side of humans? It doesn't have to be that. This is an example of "not done before," ya know?

Perhaps you should watch Romulus.

i mean the cocoon was one.

Aliens introduced the queen.

Alien 3 introduced the "host-copying" aka DNA reflex.

All those movies only introduced one new aspect to the Xeno.

Romulus introduced 2 (cocoon/wallgina and the space chrysalis).

I think one of the leaked episode titles was Metamorphosis, so maybe that is connected to a possible new concept.

I plan to, but my car is broken right now, so priorities. I am going to be watching the cheaper theaters to see if it moves there from the main theaters. Hopefully, I can catch it in the theater. Will be my 3rd "Alien" film at the theater, following Prometheus and Covenant.

Although I really like the scene, the cocoon is still way less impactful and important than the addition of the queen in Aliens, that's not even on the same level.

I wasn't trying to compare them on whether one is above the other, but simply that Romulus introduced new things for the Xeno just like the previous movies did.

I specified "impactful" too. The queen is way more impactful than the cocoon, that's my point.

As for impactful, I think the Queen wins over space cocoon. :o
However, both are equally valid regarding "look, something new!"  8)

But what's it worth if something's new but not really impactful or important in the movie ? I love the cocoon scene but the movie would globally have been the same without it.

Isn't the space cocoon important to the story, explaining how the alien survived the vacuum of space?

I think you're talking different cocoons.

The Big Chap cocoon is impactful.

If you're replying to me, I agree. Isn't it intended to be the genesis of the plot?
My question is, why was there any wreckage left of the Nostromo?
Should have been nothing but radiation left. haha
