Lenticular Edition?

Can anyone explain what a lenticular edition is?
Also what the hell is on the bottom of the front cover?  There's an alien above the "AVP" and something odd below it.  I ssume it's something predator related, but it doesn't look like it...

Its the alien body, if you look close the bottom is connected with the head, its the alien body.

Well, the alien head in that picture never had a body. It was just a promotional shot. Maybe it's because you can't seen any arms why it looks weird.

I just saw the whole gamut of Fox's new lenticular covers at a video store. I didn't realize this but they are just slipcovers put over the original dvd releases of the films. Of all of them, I would say the one that looked the best was the lenticular sleeve for The Abyss.
