20th Century Fox has released a new preview clip from the Prometheus Blu-ray. This time showing Ridley Scott’s attempts at scaring the actors in a similar way that he did in Alien with the chestbursting scene. This time Kate Dickie (Ford) gets the scare a la Veronica Cartwright.

Awesome.
ahwww like kids :D
That's great! I couldn't stop rewatching the part where the Hammerpede jumps out, their reactions are priceless XD
Huh, that was pretty cool. Though I honestly don't even remember that sequence in the film :P
 love that ridley is still using this technique :P He did it with alien and now with prometheus. awesome
LIES! There was that wire coming out!
Stop trying to make Prom seem cool!
The more I see clips like this the more I feel that this film is just, well...unoriginal. Didn't Ridley attempt to do the same thing in Alien with the chestburster scene? Why didn't he just shoot the Jon Spailhts script in this case???

Yep. And judging by the chestburster scene, it definitely got him results. If it works, why not try it again?

Maybe that's why they mentioned the wire?
And a wire could be attached to the prop for any number of reasons. Fact is; shock affect achieved.
The level of bile aimed at this film is ridiculous and I'm starting to feel sorry for the haters. Why waste your time here if you get nothing from the movie except apoplectic rage?
Oh how amazing, like she didnt notice the wire ready to whip it out of there, what a load of rubbish they are trying to force feed us, so daft, do they think everyone is stupid. Oh and it really WASNT SCARY RIDLEY

Have you never watched the making of Alien? I'd go back and watch that in order to understand what goes on in production and how aware/unaware those particular actors were during the chestburster scene. I certainly don't think the scenes are comparable in terms of originality, shock value or even on screen emphasis, but clearly the actor involved was taken aback - she wasn't acting it.

Thats the same as saying we didn't think it was going to shoot out of it's mouth, or jump out of the shadows....
Just because you know somethings about to happen doesn't mean you won't shit your pants when does.

Agreed. You can't visit one thread without someone waffling on then another hot on the tails to back em up. It's a behind the scenes extra FFS.

In summary, the actors in Alien knew what was going to happen, they just didn't know how much blood was to be coming at their faces.

has this something to do with my region?
i was looking at 0:42 and noticed we didn't get to see that room in the movie. we didn't see this either

We did. It is this:

nope look at the columns. they are missing. also the urn placement, and in the movie they are also stacked in the middle of the room up to the ceiling, and on the side, on the walls.also when david enters that room, it is the cargo bay of the ship, and the door doesn't look like that. it's smaller and has different design.you can see in the second picture near the door arches that it's a cave with rock walls, not the more metal looking corridor from the ship. we didn't see these in the film. either they switched it up while filming, changed the location of the storage area from the temple to the ship, or they filmed this and also cut it from the movie
The columns are the exact same (the ones in the background which are actual props). If you're talking about the urn columns then that's probably something that was added later. Not to mention that some of these locations were most probably reused to save time and money.

snip
Probably just CGI additions. They wouldn't build something that big and not use it.

^this is the inner of the second door of two to the head room.
Schematics of the exact setup can be seen on the board behind the armless albino Jockey:

well you say it's from the head room, the schematic says the ampoule room so it's bassicallt the same thing, but ikarop posted the picture from the cargobay. when david enters it there are no arches at the door. i get that they re-used the sets but what i'm saying is that this was done either as another room in the temple, or it was a different design to the head room we got in the movie, but they changed it along the way ::)
or i'm thinking too hard and being half asleep at 5 am doesn't help.goodbye forum, hello pillow

I called it the
head room to not confuse it with the
cargo room, since both contain ampules.
You might be right here, no one here knows for sure.
But I personally think that this is an image showing the set in a transitional stage between head/cargo room.
Which came first, I do not know.
And maybe they just used parts of the
head room with a few stacked ampules as a general layout for filming Fassbender in it and then basically doing the whole room in post production.
